"The project went great. Max and his guys do a great job. I had pretty much lost confidence in home improvement contractors until I met Max and Fox Creek Builders. He does what he says and his installers do what they say and do it with quality. Fox Creek has redone the entire outside of my house. He did windows and the siding last year and then they just did my roof and like before I am extremely satisfied with the quality of work."

"I needed new shingles, and I recalled seeing Whiting Co’s crew working on another house in my neighborhood. After receiving 4 other bids, Whiting’s sales rep Don came out to spec the job. He was awesome! Very knowledgeable, personable, and offered a price that flat-out beat the completion. He made the decision making process easy. Scheduling was a breeze with Tim. Shingles were delivered one day before the scheduled install date. The next day a crew of four showed up at the crack of dawn (7:30 this time of year). They were friendly, respectful and ready to go. They acknowledged that it may be a bit early for the neighbors; with rain forecast for later in the day and given my roof recently started leaking, I asked the crew to start right away and if the neighbors complained it be on me. Those guy busted their tails for the better part of the day, and did a beautiful job. From start, when they put down tarps across the yard, to clean up, when the left my yard in better shape than when the arrived (thanks for raking up the leaves in the back!) they were by far the best contractors I’ve used (and I’ve used more than 10)."

Eifs Installers questions, answered by experts

Yes, egress windows can significantly add value to a home. By making basement and attic areas safer and more livable, they allow you to market these spaces as finished living areas, which increases your property's value. Many homeowners can recover the full installation cost, with some sources citing a return on investment of around 70%. The exact value added depends on your specific home, location, and adherence to local building codes. Beyond financial value, egress windows enhance functionality by adding natural light and comfort. They are also a crucial safety feature, often mandated by building codes to serve as an emergency exit.

To find and hire a reputable contractor for an egress window installation, you should first research local professionals and then vet your top candidates. Start by searching for local contractors who specialize in this type of work, read their customer reviews, and examine their website and portfolio. Once you have a shortlist, contact them to ask key questions: Are you licensed and insured? What is your specific experience installing egress windows? Can you provide references from previous customers? Do you perform the work yourself or use subcontractors? What is the estimated project timeline and your current schedule? How do you handle payment?

The cost to install a bow window can range from $1,500 to $15,000, with a national average of $3,900. The total price includes materials, which can cost between $1,200 and over $14,000, and labor, which typically adds $300 to $1,900. Several factors influence the final cost, including the window's size and frame material. For example, vinyl frames are the most budget-friendly option, while wood frames are more expensive. Custom features or energy-efficient upgrades will also increase the price. For comparison, a bay window installation typically costs between $1,000 and $7,000.

Most professionals can install a window well in two to three days, depending on the size of the well and the window you want inside it. If you’re just replacing an existing window well, the work is much less intensive, and most experts can get the job done in just one day. Connecting the window well to a drainage system or installing a custom concrete window well will naturally take longer, but even the most complicated installations shouldn’t take more than three days.

The proper way to install a window well is to measure the window, dig a hole deeper and wider than the window, place a drainage tube and cap, anchor the well to the foundation, caulk the seam, and backfill the hole. The job requires tools such as a hammer drill and auger and some heavy digging. Proper placement and window well installation are critical to preventing water from leaking into the window.
