"They seemed honest and got the inspection done fast. Still had time to explain everything along the way. They did not call before they came as promised but arrived within the window. I think it was because they had someone else?s information."

"Chimney.com did a great job in chimney relining. The work was inspected and approved by WSSC today. Their staff are very courteous, honest, professional, and responsible. Their young technician Dave is efficient, hard working, knowledgeble. I give this company and their staff a five star!"

Small jobs welcome

"They were great. They had a cancellation and came the next day to close our damper and cleaned the chimney at the same time and only charged us for the cleaning. Then they fit us in a week later to seal a crack at the chimney top. They gave us before and after pics of everything. They were punctual, professional and experienced and I recommend them highly to anyone looking for chimney services."

"I hired IMAS General Services to inspect and clean my chimney and clean my dryer vent. They arrived within the window of time they gave me and called that morning to give me a better idea of what time they would be there. After inspecting the chimney for a minute, Inmar told me it was in great shape and didn't need a cleaning. Because I was local and had also scheduled another service, he didn't charge me for any work to the chimney. He did a thorough job cleaning the dryer vent, and reattached the dryer hose with tape, when before it was just held on with a flimsy zip tie, so the service was worth every penny."

"The project choices above did not match the actual project -- which was to inspect and then clean my wood-burning prefab fireplace. Logan did an excellent job, and I've referred him and the company to two of my neighbors. He also helped me understand the scope of the work as well as other work that the condo association needs to consider. it was also important in case the condo association questions my choice of vendor, that he has the appropriate certification from the Chimney Safety Institute of America"

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

Structural problems with the foundation or roof, water damage, and significant plumbing or electrical issues are all considered major red flags in a home inspection. Of these, a structural problem related to the foundation is often the most severe. Foundation repairs are typically the most expensive and intrusive to carry out, averaging around $5,000 but sometimes reaching up to $16,000. Because these problems can pose safety risks and be costly to fix, you should ask your inspector detailed questions about any identified issues. You will need to carefully consider how major problems affect what you’re willing to pay for the home, or if you want to proceed with the sale at all.

Yes, many providers include video copies for your records. Confirm with your contractor.

It’s a good idea to have a roof inspection once every two or three years to catch issues early and avoid major property damage. However, if you recently had a new roof installed, you can safely wait around five to ten years before scheduling an inspection, especially since your workmanship warranty should last about that long. You might also want to schedule more frequent or one-off roof inspections if you are buying or selling a home, if you have issues with leaks or visible damage, or if your homeowner’s insurance company requires an updated inspection.

If you suspect that your roof is leaking, you can hire a professional roofing contractor to inspect it to find the source of the issue. There are many possible reasons why your roof is leaking, including broken shingles, damaged flashing, clogged gutters, and more. A roof leak inspection will help you pinpoint the exact cause of the leak and the pro will suggest the best way to resolve it.

Yes, most insurance plans cover acts of nature. In policy documents, this also may be called “Acts of God” or “natural disasters.” However, not all acts of nature are covered by your policy, and the extent to which they’re covered depends on your specific contract. Check your policy documents to understand your coverage limits and exclusions.
