"We had a chimney fire in February and we had them come inspect the chimney damage and stove condition. They installed a new stainless chimney liner and new Jotul wood stove. We couldn’t be happier with the service and purchase. Top notch experience! We highly recommend!"

"I called them and Justin and Jim were able to come out the same day and sweep and inspect our two chimneys. They were great to deal with. While they were here, they also cleaned out gutters the price was as initially quoted and was very reasonable. I plan to use them again soon."

"MCP explains in layman terms everything going on with your chimney and makes it easy for the homeowner to understand. They take the time to walk you through the process and take a video of the interior of the chimney so you know what they are saying is true. My clients are always comfortable after meeting with MCP."

"This was an excellent experience- we were contacted promptly and Christian provided a clear explanation of what he found during inspection, tiered options of work based on our needs and helped us plan for future projects related to the chimney that did not require immediate attention. We will definitely be repeat customers!"

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

If the bay window extends beyond your existing roofline, you must add a roof or a small “skirt” to divert storm water and prevent water damage. The window roof can match your existing house roof, or be finished with copper or other decorative materials. Most bay windows have a roof with complete flashing regardless of their placement to prevent leaks into the home.

Most roof leaks occur where shingles meet or where there are sealants or seams in the materials. This is common around skylights and at any point there is a break in the roof such as corners and edges. Roofing materials are incredibly strong and resistant when overlapping, but any change in that can cause gaps where water can enter.

Yes, because it prevents water damage, deters pests from accessing the roof decking, protects the roof from wind damage, and lengthens the roof's life. Plus, building codes require it.

There should be small gaps between your roof and the walls of your home, and other buildings. These small gaps let building materials shift, expand, and contract with weather and other outside forces, and they prevent moisture from wicking down walls from roofing and gutter systems. Without these strategic gaps, your home’s exterior and its finishes can sustain water damage, decay, peel, delaminate, and crack. However, there is a fine line between a smart gap and a problematic gap—all  gaps should be small, intentional, and covered or filled in with foam insulation to prevent pests from using them as access points.

If your roof has a vapor barrier, you will need approximately one square foot of roof vent for every 300 square feet of ceiling space. If there is no vapor barrier, the roof should have one square foot of roof vent for every 150 square feet of ceiling space. If you are not comfortable making this determination, a local roofing professional can help.
