"Had a small concrete job that needed finishing (minor rebar tying and concrete then the concrete mixing/pouring) - and while the weather was good. Anderson was really quick to communicate, and able to give an initial estimate via multiple photos - then followed up with a site visit to confirm. He was able to schedule the job quicker than expected due to finishing another project early, and he (and a helper) worked until nearly dark to finish. They were friendly, hardworking and respectful - leaving the job site as clean as they found it, with only minor clarifications required."

"We hired Asphalt Engineering to install a driveway this past summer to replace our gravel and deteriorated bituminous concrete driveway with new bit conc. We sought proposals from two contractors. Although their prices were within a few hundred dollars of each other’s, Asphalt Engineering’s proposal was far superior. It was a multi-page document that included photos, sketches, details, dimensions, and a cost estimate. The other contractor submitted a two-paragraph proposal. Asphalt Engineering arrived as scheduled to remove the existing driveway, grade, and install a gravel base sloped for proper drainage. A week later they returned, as scheduled, to install the binder and finish coats. Their work was excellent. The driveway now drains as it should. I highly recommend Asphalt Engineering. If I had another driveway, I’d hire them again. You should too!"

"We contacted Eduardo for building a retaining wall, excavate and pave our driveway and backyard and to design a path from house to driveway. He and his crew exceeded our expectations and we are very pleased with the outcome. He was responsive, punctual and easy to work with. I would definitely hire him again."

"We had a concrete patio that was riddled with cracks and upheavals. E.A masonry did a wonderful job. They removed the old patio and put in a completely new one. "Had Henry remove a 12-15 inch thick 5x5 slab of concrete that needed to be removed. He showed up very quickly and knocked it out in a few hours with cleanup and haul away. Very professional and keeps you updated the whole time. Highly recommend."

"I can't explain the work very well but I know Roberto's guys left me with a clean and solid surface of my stone and cement front yard as well as a solid foundation matching up to the surrounding sidewalk. No weeds coming through. Roberto the pro and his solid hard working crew did a very good job, just what I wanted. Roberto will be doing more work around the foundation of my home and a couple other patching and painting jobs. I'm lucky he was available and he answered my call right away. I recommend his work, I'm walking the walk...he's coming right away next week to do more work at my home. Sincerely, Marty Stiriti"

Concrete Driveways questions, answered by experts

You should always hook up your pressure washer to the water supply before turning it on and ensure there’s a good water flow. If you try to turn the machine on without water in the system, it overworks and overheats the unlubricated pump. This can quickly lead to irreversible damage.

Concrete does well with a number of cleaning agents, as it’s a durable material. Choose from acidic cleaners, alkaline cleaners, and pH-neutral cleaners, in addition to antibacterial solutions. Your best bet is to simply read the fine print with your preferred detergent and make sure it mentions concrete as a viable surface.

These parts of the house are okay to pressure wash:

  • Natural wood decking that is not stained or painted

  • Siding made of vinyl, aluminum, and cement

  • Concrete

  • Most children’s toys

  • Outdoor furniture

  • Trash cans and recycle bins

You shouldn’t directly paint over an oil stain on your asphalt driveway. While painting over might visually conceal the stain, the oil will continue to damage the driveway. Once you’ve noticed the oil stain, it’s important to thoroughly remove it within the next few months since oil stains only take six months before they begin to damage the structure of your asphalt driveway.

You should always power wash your driveway before applying a sealant. At any given time, your driveway could be covered with algae and moss, tire residue, oil and rust stains, and any combination of leaves, twigs, and dirt. If you skip power washing, you’ll be trapping the dirt and grime beneath the sealant and lowering its chance of cementing itself to your driveway. While you can expect the cost to pressure wash your driveway to average between $100 and $350, the few hundred dollars beats an unattractive driveway or paying extra to reapply your driveway sealer.
