"very professional, punctual, and thorough installed an internal french drain system including demolition work and sump pump and backup sump pump with dehumidifier. "They advice, and had all our questions answered on sensible and affordable options. Very knowledgeable, prompt, polite, efficient, and thorough team! We are happy with their waterproofing services in our basement (fast sump pump and a grate trench with a discharge line that goes 15 feet to the outside bubbler) as well as crawl space shield installed under our addition. It works well, and Pioneer checked a month later and a year after for inspection and cleaning. A+ work and workers."

"From the start the Project Manager, Dale, was very responsive and took time to explain any questions I had. Two day install went smoothly except for a syncing issue with the nest thermostat. Bobby’s install team actually finished on day 1 but Sila sends a foreman and independent technician to check and make sure everything was installed and is working properly. Thermostat issue was a bit more tricky than expected but the entire team communicated smoothly with each other and the technicians, Brian and Kyle, made sure everything got resolved before leaving."

"Excellent work! Beautiful job mounting the water heater and hooking up all the connections as well as installing a new electrical outlet. Bill came prior to the job in order to create exit piping due to our new siding job that was in process- much appreciated! He spent quite a bit of time explaining the systems we might choose and answering our questions. Very professional and a pleasure to work with. Everything was immaculate when he finished the job. Highly recommend!"

"I recently had a new heat pump system installed by Trust 1, and the entire experience was outstanding from start to finish. Their team was professional, knowledgeable, and respectful of my home. The installation was smooth, on time, and the system is running perfectly. It’s rare to find a company that truly lives up to its name, but Trust 1 absolutely earned my trust. I couldn’t be happier with the service and results — highly recommend them to anyone needing HVAC work!"

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

A sump pump can be plugged into a regular, 110-volt outlet with three-prong openings, but it must have GFCI protections per the NEC, meaning you’ll need a GFCI outlet and circuit. Sump pumps require two outlet openings, one for the plug to the motor and one for the float switch.

Sump pumps prevent basement flooding, reduce humidity, and protect against water damage.

A small sump pump running infrequently uses an average of 10 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month. The average cost for electricity is $0.171 per kWh. The size and use frequency affect how much electricity it uses. Sump pumps average one-third to one horsepower (hp) motors. One hp is equal to 745.7 watts. Watts multiplied by the time your pump is running divided by 1,000 equals your average kWh. Multiply kWh by your average cost of electricity. In areas with high rain or a marsh basin, the average cost can be as high as $15-$25 a month.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to drain wastewater and solid waste into the municipal sewer system or a septic tank. For fixtures below this level, like those in a basement, gravity cannot move the waste upward. The ejector pump provides the force needed to pump the sewage up to the main line. Without one, wastewater from below-ground fixtures would back up, potentially causing a sewage overflow and flooding. If all of your plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity is sufficient and an ejector pump is not needed.

To maintain your sump pump, start by checking it every three to four months to ensure it’s in working order. Clear any debris from the pit because blockages can prevent the pump from operating efficiently. You should also test the pump by pouring a bucket of water into the pit. If it turns on automatically and drains the water, it’s functioning correctly. Inspect the discharge line for clogs, and ensure it directs water away from your home. Once a year, clean the pump itself, and consider having it professionally serviced for optimal performance.
