"I hired Jose to cut 30+ trees ranging in diameter from 9â to 30+â inches. A huge job. Jose came Saturday and we agreed on the price which was very competitive. He agreed to start Monday (2 days later). He and his crew showed up early. These guys are extremely hardworking, super-efficient, very friendly and the crew had smiles on their faces the whole time. As agreed, I was keeping the cut wood. They cut the trees into logs cut to perfect length and stacked them up towards the edge of property near the street for easy transportation. They finished the job in 2.5 days. Just unbelievable. Jose is a man of his word. He is very smart and easy to work with. I highly recommend him over BIG companies. You will not be disappointed."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

In some states and municipalities, you will need a permit to remove a tree on your property. In many cases where permits are required, a tree must reach a maximum height before a permit is required to remove it. You can either ask your local building department or a tree removal professional if you’ll need a permit. If you do, you can expect to pay between $50 and $150 for the permit alone. Your tree removal company should pull the permit for you and include the permit fee in your total.

Sudden oak death and oak wilt are different diseases. Oak wilt first shows up in tree leaves while sudden oak death affects the branches and trunk. However, as symptoms in both can overlap, it’s best to consult a professional arborist tree expert for a proper diagnosis and development of a treatment plan.

In most cases, leaving tree roots underground is not a problem if the stump has been removed or ground below the soil. However, some larger roots may decompose, leaving dents in your soil. Additionally, some aggressive trees, including willows, oaks, elms, maples, and poplars may grow back from roots. Large aggressive trees with established root systems are more likely to grow back.

You should prune ornamental trees once every other year after the fruit has matured and begun to drop. You should also prune out dead branches whenever you see them. Pruning too often can stimulate more growth, especially in faster growing varieties like Bradford pears.

Bradford pear trees bloom in early spring with small white flowers. They typically flower for at least two weeks. In bloom, these trees often emit a foul-smelling odor that’s often compared to rotting fish. Bradford pear trees will sometimes bloom in the fall due to drought or other stress-inducing conditions.
