"Had to keep calling back. Still waiting for him to come and take out the window he put in (11 months!!) Not the proper window for kitchen. Didn't insulate underneath heating bills soared last winter. Will continue this winter I'm sure. MAYBE he is a great carpenter never saw his work, but definitely a terrible business owner, should have stuck to swinging a hammer. Let me ask you this: if you owned such a business and you had a verified unhappy customer who still owed you a decent check, wouldn't you, for the sake of YOUR business with YOUR own family name on it want to collect and right this wrong?? I know what his answer is."

Foundation Repair questions, answered by experts

There are a few ways to reinforce a pier and beam foundation, including installing additional piers and beams for added support and performing underpinning, which redistributes the weight of your home further down into the ground where frost and soil expansion don’t pose a threat to the foundation. The best option for reinforcement varies based on your particular home and the soil conditions beneath it.

Water damage in your home’s foundation is gradual, often beginning with small cracks that let water seep in. Over time, this weakens the foundation, which then allows in more water, causing significant structural damage. This process can take months or years to destroy your foundation, and the repairs can be very costly. Have your foundation inspected regularly to prevent significant damage.

The foundation repair that will work best varies based on the extent of the damage, the underlying cause, soil conditions, weather conditions, and more. Permanent foundation solutions like underpinning and exterior drainage solutions are better than temporary fixes that don’t address the source of the issue. Some examples of more temporary solutions include mudjacking or slabjacking, waterproof paint, and dampproofing. The best course of action is to have a reliable foundation specialist inspect your issue, treat the underlying problem, and restabilize your foundation.

Yes, you can replace a cinder block foundation. If a block foundation is too severely damaged to repair cracks and other issues, replacing the entire foundation is a viable option. The job will require a professional and can take between one to seven days on average to complete, depending on how complex the problem is.

Yes, foundation repairs are worth it if you have a significant problem or see signs that could worsen if not dealt with. If your foundation fails, your home can lose up to 20% of its value. Protecting your home from serious structural damage and avoiding more costly repairs later is well worth the money.
