JJ came to look at the situation on the day I called. While he knew what needed to be done, he recommended an analysis by a structural engineer so there would be no questions as to what was done in the future. His engineer produced a stamped report for a reasonable price and in a timely manner.
The final cost was slightly above the estimate, however there ended up being some additional work that needed to be done that was not included in the initial quote.
It was important to me that the work be completed before winter and it was. Nothing is perfect and there were a couple of minor miscommunications regarding scheduling along the way, but when I reached out to JJ, he was quick to respond and reset my expectations.
The actual work was done primarily by Truman. Both JJ and Truman clearly took pride in the quality of the finished product and I would definitely call on them again.
Regarding the ratings. I'm a firm believer that no one is perfect and an A should only be granted to those who perform flawlessly and who complete work ahead of schedule and under budget. Those who meet my criteria of perfection are few and far between. A "B" rating in some categories should NOT be taken in any way as a negative.
It was great. They are awesome. They are really professional. They are really responsive and helpful. They are good contractors. They do really good work. The work and everything looked good afterwards. I would recommend them.
It's really impossible to enjoy the summer evenings outdoors unless you are in a screened porch. The mosquitoes are absolutely relentless. We were able to enjoy many warm summer evenings on our porch without needed to lather up in DEET first.
I'll assume that he has too much work to take on new business. But I'd rather that he simply tell me that than fail to return phone calls. Highly unprofessional.
"Very sorry not to get back to you. Very very busy, and the phone keeps ringing.... It was unprofessional. Best of luck on your basement job."
"Very sorry not to get back to you. We get hundreds of calls every month and we simply can't get back to everyone. I run a small business, and we are 100% dedicated to our current projects and customers. New work potential is great. We need it. But we have to draw the line somewhere and that's with our current projects and bringing them in on schedule, budget, and on our word. Thanks for trying us just the same."
I would highly recommend JJ and his crew for any project, and I plan on using them again in the future based on his knowledge, the quality of the work, and his professionalism.
"That's very nice of you. Many Thanks, JJ"
"YOU WERE TERIFFIC TO WORK WITH TOO. SO HAPPY THAT WE COULD FIX THE PROBLEM WITHOUT A TON OF WORK AND ENGINEERING. THANKS FOR YOUR PROMPT PAYMENT TOO. CALL ME ANYTIME. GREAT CUSTOMER!"
The initial meeting with JJ was to review the problem and past unsuccessful attempts at fixing the roof leak. During this meeting JJ was very thorough and we mapped out a plan of action. It became obvious that JJ had very high standards for how the work was completed. Accordingly, I was very comfortable with the roofing team that JJ subcontracted (Robert L Green Roofing). The rest of the general construction around the home was done by JJ's crew.
JJ was very willing to take the time to thoroughly answer all of my questions relating to why things were done a certain way or why particular materials were used, etc. The crews were very respectful of our home and property. Email and phone conversations were always timely. All in all the work was completed over a period of about eight days. They did exactly what they said they would do for the agreed upon price. The only additional items were ones that were out of scope from the original plan.
Overall our experience was excellent. I would highly recommend JJ and Supple Construction.
"Very professional and intelligent customer. understood exactly what I proposed which was somewhat complicated and involved, asked several questions so he understood every aspect of the proposition. I really respect that. sometimes one can perceive taking the high road as overkill or an unnecessary expense. The customer understood exactly how and what I proposed would work in his situation and he went the distance. Problem solved! Great guy to work for. One professional working for another. It doesn't get any better!! Super guy..hope you call us again."
"spoke to you once. never received the report. never heard from you again. end of story. good luck to you!"
"When I spoke to You on Tuesday you specifically instructed me NOT to call "you" regarding your roof issue. You instructed me to contact your mother, Valerie. Bob spoke to her on Wednesday afternoon (within 24 hrs) and offed to stop by on Thursday, if he could squeeze it in, otherwise he told her that he would reach out to her early next week to schedule a site visit. Please contact Valerie to confirm this conversation occurred. I can fully understand your disappointment, if in fact, your accusation was factual. But once you speak to your Mom, Valerie you will learn that we made good on our word, to contact her within 24hrs. After you confirm Bob's conversation with Valerie, it would be great to read that you were misinformed. If not, that's ok too. Best of luck with your roof repair. Respectfully, JJ Supple, Principle. Supple Construction, Inc."
"Member, Thanks for your kind words of praise! The men really enjoyed the project as well as demonstrating their professionalism to both of you. I heard that all the coffee you provided helped immensely on those cold mornings! They greatly appreciated your hospitality, and I enjoyed the challenges. I look forward the underpinning of the foundation. Let's hope your neighbor gets his variance!! Thanks again. JJ"
The job was done when he said it would be, and there were no delays. JJ did have to contend with the strange depth of each lally column which required extra excavation and extra concrete, so we did pay about $200 more than the original estimate.
All in all we are very happy and would not hesitate to recommend JJ Supple.
"Hi Member, Many thanks for the great feedback. I am happy that all worked out, with No cracked tiles. I just wanted to drop a thank you note to you as well, and check to see if everything is still Ok with the workmanship. Let me know, please. Hard to believe it's been 6 months. JJ"
"Thanks Member, we think the world of you too! We appreciate all the continued business. JJ"
