Scott Curtice was extremely helpful, engaged and communicative through entire project, with many great practical and aesthetic ideas on design, fixture selection, execution (minimizing disruption to remainder of house not being worked, considering living space arrangements while half of house/bedrooms/bathrooms out of use, and setting up a temporary laundry) and finishes. He was cost conscious and fully transparent about pricing and the effect of various choices and selections throughout, while remaining happy to go ahead with whatever choices we made after weighing on the pros and cons. His project manager Vassili was also great to work with, also very thoughtful about both the functional aspects of the project as well as the look. The final result has exceeded our expectations. The work also progressed steadily, without being left for any period without contractors or subcontractors moving things along, and stayed to the planned tight schedule (taking about 8 months for entire project)"

"Mostly well.  We purchased the Big Deal for 2 painters for a day which said it would be 2 painters for 9 hours for a total of 18 hours.  They showed up with 3 painters and said their day would end earlier since they would hit their 18 hours sooner with 3 people.  I do wish we had known that in advance, but it worked out.  They told at the beginning that the oil based primer wouldn't have time to dry because it needs to dry for 24 hours, so we had to go back to get latex primer while they prepped.  That was disappointing because everything I read was that the soot should really be covered with oil based primer so that it didn't bleed through.  I wish they had told me that when we were exchanging emails about the job, but maybe I should have known that already.  We had to have the job done that day though, so rescheduling wasn't really an option.  When my husband returned to the store to get latex paint, they asked him to pick up a pack of rollers also.
They did a quality job, painting the ceiling which was probably difficult since the family room had two levels, with part of the room having very high ceilings with skylights, and another part of the ceiling was over a staircase to the basement.  Since we had purchased a deal that was for a specific time frame, they covered a lot with their time, and my husband was set to complete what they didn't get to.  We were happy they were able to prime and paint the entire family room for the most part, and able to prime the bathroom as well.  
They were flexible and worked with us with what to do.  We needed to paint the family room and bathroom and kitchen.  We only wanted to pay for the one day and my husband was prepared to finish whatever was left over himself.  We were hoping they would finish the family room at least.  At some point my husband saw how much time was left, and decided he would rather have them prime the bathroom instead of cutting in along the floor in the family room with the paint (since my husband would rather finish the paint than deal with priming the bathroom himself).  They didn't have a problem with that.
The rooms turned out very well.  Would use them again in the future.

"The work took much longer than expected (4 months) and we ran right down to the max on what our home owner's insurance would allow for us to be put up in a hotel. D & R worked to fit us in around a lot of other jobs and this made it difficult to get much done quickly or more than 1-day per week of work in. One subcontractor was unprofessional and refused to do work he had agreed to causing us a 3-week delay. D & R was open with communication of setbacks or concerns, which we appreciated, and eventually replaced the subcontractor. Overall I am happy with the work. Some small details might be improved in the finish work. For example, there are some small lumps in some drywall patches that the painters might have finished better and one section of ceiling paint that did not match the rest of the ceiling. The flooring was replaced on the entire second floor (apx. 800 sq feet) and they did a great job with this especially considering they had all the furniture to contend with while they did the work. They provide a guarantee for a year for their work. The owner is responsive to contacts and pleasant. I would hire them again."

"This project took a few twists and Gil stayed with us through it all. What started out as a simple idea became much more involved when we discovered our roof had to be re-framed to shore it up before we could vault the ceilings. He even helped line up an engineer who did quick work in drawing up revised plans at a reasonable cost. Gil's team and his subcontractors were hardworking, pleasant to work with, and did quality work. Texting and talking by phone proved to be a better way to stay in touch with Gil than detailed e-mails. We're very happy with the finished product, and would definitely hire them again."

So I was pleased with how smoothly this project went from start to finish. A formal written quote was provided via email which I accepted and he scheduled the work for the following week.
