"Alan is very professional, knowledgeable, and patient. I am the type of person who asks a lot of questions, Alan took the time to fully answer each of my questions without rushing, I really appreciated that. I contacted several electricians and he was first to come to my house to review the project and provide me with a price on the complete project. Another electrician, once he found out it was a detached garage, told me he would not do the trench work, and I would have to find someone else to do it. I told him not to both giving me a price. The trench work tuned out to be the hardest part of the job. In trenching to the garage, a massive root was uncovered; Alan handled it very professionally and did the necessary work to properly install the wire. I would defiantly recommend him he did the complete job, pulling permits, having the work inspected, the total installation and cleanup. I think you would be happy with his work."

Small jobs welcome

"Frank and his crew were on time and took care to install a stove hood, and swap out an overhead fan with pendant downlights. I was really impressed with their craftsmanship. As well as replacing track lighting over the stove. They returned to check out a buzzing dimmer switch with the recent pendant lights on a Saturday to make sure I was all set. The crew was very respectful and keep the work area tidy. It is helpful to have all the light fixtures you want installed with you at the time of the initial consult so Frank can estimate the time and feasibility of the fixture you've selected given your home's structure and access. It is also good to talk through with Frank before beginning if any of the scope might benefit from additional trades (e.g. coordinating exterior lights with exterior trim)."

"Rick Buccelli was kind and very communicative regarding my project, price, and how long it would take. He just made me feel really comfortable with the whole process and went out of his way to make that happen. Response time was quick, and scheduling was also very quick. All in all Buccelli & Sons is a great business to work with. I am definitively hiring them again to complete so other projects I have. I highly recommend"

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

Custom homes can take an average of 18 months to build, mainly due to the lengthy design process, and most projects take somewhere between 12 and 24 months. When you work with the right custom home builders near you, they can help you map the road ahead and understand what can speed up or delay the timeline. Choosing locally available materials, for example, can speed things up without losing that customized touch.

Mid-century modern architecture was a popular home style throughout the U.S. from the 1950s to 1970s. Most homes feature a wide and symmetrical floor plan with low-sloped roofs and floor-to-ceiling windows. Its minimalism and balanced appearance are back on the home style scene, particularly when maximizing sunlight, airflow, and a blend with the home's natural surroundings.

Framing is often the most expensive phase of building a house because it’s time-consuming and requires a lot of materials. It costs between $20,000 and $50,000 on average, depending on materials and labor costs. Before construction begins, it’s possible that purchasing land is the priciest step in the process. Some plots of land sell for $3,000, while others cost upwards of $150,000.

The best way to start designing a house is to know what you want before designing. Making a list of your biggest priorities in a home will help. Designing a house without an idea of what you need or want in a home will lead to many trials and errors that could make it harder to figure out what you need in your design.

Typically, general remodeling involves architects, contractors, interior designers, electricians, plumbers, and sometimes structural engineers. Each plays a role in bringing the project from concept to completion.
