"He bought the deal two years ago! He asked me if I would honor the deal a couple months after the deadline. I said yes. a year and a half later he contacts me to do the job. It was a 50% off deal. two years after the deal was bought he wants to do the work and does not expect to buy the additional 50%?????????? Is he flipping crazy???????????????? The 50% off deal was good for 6 months only. I gave him an extra two months!!!!!!! Two years later he wants the same deal. What an uninformed human being. The deal was dead a long time ago. He needs to pay the other 50% retail value to get his work done. This man is a dead beat apparently."
"Well this was a new hired employee and he was fired immediately and so I was embarrassed at his actions. He put the door on backwards though because the customer asked him to and then asked him to reverse it later. Ultimately the work came out very good and everything cleaned, but this new hire was a disaster. I have an "A" rating for a good reason. But this is an embarrassment."
"You must have gone on the wrong page. I don't work in Old Saybrooke."
Historical home required rotten wood replacement ? numerous locations around the house require replacement or repair of external wood siding, trim work - excellent workmanship very happy with work performed.
External Paint sanding (prep) ? wet sanding of the home went quickly and very clean - superb workmanship very happy with work
External Paint tape (prep)- this is where the project was very slow and time seem to take forever to complete ? 2 weeks of taping .
External Paint ? primer coat - excellent workmanship very happy 1 day
External Paint ? base color 2 coats - excellent workmanship took too long to complete- 8 days
External Paint ? trim color - excellent workmanship took too long to complete- 5 days
If you are not looking to get house done quickly 1-2 weeks then these are the guys for you excellent work but slow
"Thank you for praising our workmanship. It didn't take that long to tape and plastic though. We had rain to battle with plus we ran into extra days of carpentry that we never charged you extra for. During that time after we started masking was when the extra carpentry took place. But you were working so you didn't know. Glad the house looks great! It will also last over a decade without needing another paint job because of our exclusive 3 coat system with our special primer."
Another A+ job by Dave and his crew! Our house is 100 years old, and required a lot of sanding/priming and meticulous painting to look nice. The end result is fantastic, and we couldn't have been happier. Dave and his crew also have great ideas, and really good taste. It is so nice to have found a contractor that we can trust to take good care of our home.
"I remember this job well. When was I rude? I am never rude to anyone ever. As you said the job came out beautiful. The bathroom problem was explained and we fixed the issue. You had a clacimime issue that was causing your old popcorn to react. I bent over backwards to fix it even though I never charged for this kind of repair. The issue cost me hundreds of dollars to fix and I never asked you for a penny. I returned several times to make sure at our own expense to make sure the strange bathroom issue went away. I was a hero. Really disappointed by this one."
On the morning of July 4th, I got up very early and began cleaning. We swept up sawdust, picked up screws, nails, water bottles, and cigarette butts (one of the workers chain smoked and used my yard as his ashtray). The big pile of debris was in my driveway and I could do nothing about that. One stairway was rebuilt and useable, the other was not rebuilt and there was yellow caution tape covering the gate. I was mortified that my guests had to see my patio and front yard in such a state. On July 6, I demanded that Mr. Harris come out and look at the work before it continued. He came to the house and we showed him all the problems with the work that my brothers in law had pointed out to me on July 4. Basically, it was a mess. Nothing lined up as it should, improper flashing was installed, the list goes on and on. They had even attempted to reuse some of the old rotting boards, which we insisted they remove. I asked Mr. Harris to stop work for a week because my daughter was home studying for the bar exam. He did so, and work resumed on July 13th.
We found some rotted wood under the second set of stairs and asked that his team repair this. He did so, for an additional $350, which I thought was pretty bold considering that he was in breach of contract.
At this point I should note that I am a gardener and I spend a lot of time in my yard tending to plants. One evening, near the end of the project, I found 40+ nails thrown into my flower bed! I picked most of them out and again complained to Mr. Harris. My last point of concern is the fact that only one member of his team spoke English and we had difficulty communicating with the supposed English speaker. The team was dropped off each morning and picked up each evening, which led me to ask where the men used the bathroom. The answer? In my yard. Again, as a gardener, I was not happy with this response. Mr. Harris notes in other rebuttals to poor reviews that he is on-site at the beginning of the job, the middle of the job, and the end of the job. The only time he came to my job was when I demanded that he do so. I am sure that he will have some sort of sassy response as to why this job came out poorly but I would advise you to read his reviews carefully, especially the ones that involve woodwork. The only reason I did not give him an "F" was that near the end of the job he brought in an expert who really whipped the project into shape. I wish I knew the name of this person as he truly did a great job.
"While I have 95% "A+" reviews I have to hang my head on this one. Crew was fired immediately. While this customer exaggerates greatly as all angry customers do (few and far between thankfully) The crew didn't clean as they were instructed and cost me a lot of embarrassment and headache for my customer. There was a design that wasn't visible just structural that was not needed to do for deck steps and this design took a us a week longer than what I was figuring. I never asked her for a dime of extra money but I lost 1000 in profit. The only thing I can say about the bathroom complaint is don't lock a crew out of the house and they wont have to use the bushes. Other than this I sent my lead carpenter to fix the problems and they ended up by their own admission with a job well done. Sorry for the hassle."
Shawn and his crew performed miracles on our garage roof and Eric coordinated major projects on both the the exterior and interior of the house. Eric kept us posted during every phase of the multi-day project and he also made a number of valuable suggestions about accents and trim, which we really appreciated.
"Well, I am sorry you had this experience. When I was there for inspection I didn't see any of the shelf issues you pointed out here. We were covering existing un level concrete and was requested to use a foam backer by the customer...and I didn't want to do it because it would create an unstable and spongy backing for the sheet rock. It is obvious that when they applied any weight to the shelf the seams split. It would have been appropriate to call me to repair it. That is why I give a 5 year labor warranty. It is unthinkable to not use your warranty and give me a "D" for something I warned you about in the first place and was available to repair upon request. I am an "A" rated contractor for a reason."
"Dear foreign customer. I do not know you. You are not in my data base, I wasn't painting your house in June, I have no such thing as a 299 painting deal offered. You are not any where in my schedules, data base customer profiles...no where. You have the wrong man. Right name but you were not served."
- David responded quickly to my request for a house painter. He met with me and after walking around the house he gave me an estimate that I felt was very good considering all the repair work that was needed before painting could begin. His crew was top notch and did an excellent job. They were very professional and detail oriented. I would recommend David and his crew to anyone who wanted to get great results for their paint job!!
