"This company is amazing! Scheduled for a Thursday afternoon and had a new dryer coming Friday. Their truck broke down and they had to reschedule but were able to come Friday morning. For the inconvenience they knocked 25% off the price. They arrived on time Friday and quickly cleared my clogged dryer line. Guys were very friendly and cleaned up after their work. For such awesome professional service, they had to be expensive, right? Nope!!! The original price was more than $100 cheaper than the 2 other quotes I got! If you need vent work done, this is the company to hire :-)"

"Tom was excellent. He reached out to me quickly about the questions I had for my dryer vent cleaning while other companies didn’t even respond . He got me on the schedule quickly and got the work done very professionally and was reasonably priced. I was also able to get on an annual program with the company so I don’t need to remember to call again next year. Highly recommend!!"

"Dustbusters did an exceptional job. We had all vents and ducts cleaned, including dryer and bathroom vents. The techniques used were latest technology; the technicians were skilled and helpful. Process was completed in an efficient and super clean manner. Before and after photos from inside ducts demonstrated the "like new" result. If you have any concerns about your forced air system, give them a call. The air quality of your home will improve. We noticed a difference in both dust and breathing within one day. This service is first class in all respects. We will have them back in the future. We got a 10% veterans discount."

Dryer Vent Cleaning questions, answered by experts

You can clean a dryer vent yourself by unplugging the dryer from your wall outlet, removing your vent pipe from your dryer, removing debris from the pipe and dryer area, and looking at the exterior vent exit for any debris or blockages.

If you're unfamiliar with how vents work, call in a pro for an annual vent cleaning and inspection and for help with how to clean a dryer vent.

Professionals use specialized tools to clean dryer vents effectively. These tools typically include a combination of flexible rods and brushes designed to navigate the vent's twists and turns. The brushes dislodge and loosen lint and debris, while the rods help extend the reach through the vent. High-powered vacuums with HEPA filters are also used to capture and remove the dislodged lint and particles, ensuring a thorough cleaning. In some cases, professionals may employ video inspection cameras to assess the condition of the vent and confirm that it's entirely clean.

You have two different types of air vents in your home: supply and return air vents. Your supply air vents are responsible for pushing air into your home. Meanwhile, return air vents draw warmer air back into the ductwork to condition it by removing the warm molecules from it. Both types of vents are necessary to a working HVAC system and a comfortable home.

As a general rule, you should have your dryer vent professionally cleaned at least once a year to remove lint and debris buildup, which can cause fires and increase energy costs. However, the frequency may need to be adjusted based on usage. If you have a large household, use the dryer frequently, have pets, or have an older vent system, it is better to clean the vent more often, such as every six months or even quarterly. You should also schedule a cleaning immediately if you notice signs of a blockage, such as clothes taking longer to dry, the dryer feeling hot to the touch, or an odd odor. Routine vacuuming is not a substitute for a thorough, professional cleaning.

The length of an allowable dryer vent varies based on the local building codes and regulations. Typically, the maximum range is 25 to 35 feet. However, if the vent must have any 90-degree turns, you may see a reduction of five feet from the maximum. Some municipalities may have no specific maximum allowable length as part of the code. Typically, installers will run the vent over the shortest possible distance for safety. The dryer vent cleaning cost is less with a shorter vent length as well.
