"Called Paul to consult on a quick charger for an electric vehicle as well as to replace several outdoor outlets at my home. He went above and beyond to plot out the best and cheapest path from our electrical panel to the driveway in our renovated and added onto â 50â s ranch. The work he did I was quick and quality. We have plans to have him back for more in the spring. Highly recommend!"

"We would recommend Scott in a heartbeat! Wow, he did a great job on the many different electrical projects we threw at him. He was fast, beyond fairly priced, courteous, and professional! He replaced our electric panel, upgraded the service, and wired our entire basement renovation for outlets and lighting. I can't imagine ever going with anyone else for any of our electrical needs!"

Customers say: Quick response

"Mike from A&B electric did an excellent job on what I consider a complicated project. The project required conversion to 220V, sub-panel installation, external receptacle, switch, and device wiring; I'm delighted with his attention to detail, customer service, and overall execution."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Shrewsbury, using extension cords as permanent solutions, overloading outlets with space heaters during cold months, or blocking access to your electrical panel can strain your system. Neglecting regular GFCI outlet testing and allowing snow or moisture to accumulate near outdoor connections can also cause premature wear. Attempting DIY electrical work without proper permits increases safety risks and may lead to code violations.

Helpful?

Combining electrical upgrades with projects like kitchen remodels, HVAC installations, or bathroom renovations in Shrewsbury can streamline the process and reduce disruptions. For example, updating wiring while replacing appliances or installing a new heating system ensures your home meets safety standards. Scheduling these projects together, especially during milder seasons, can help avoid weather delays and keep your renovation timeline on track.

Helpful?

In Shrewsbury, tailor your inspection routine to local weather. Each spring, test outdoor outlets and GFCIs after winter. In summer, inspect air conditioning and pool wiring for wear. Fall is ideal for checking basement moisture and preparing heating system wiring. During winter, watch for signs of electrical panel overload and ice buildup near exterior equipment to help maintain home safety year-round.

Helpful?

Homes in Shrewsbury built before 1980 often have outdated electrical systems, such as fuse boxes, two-prong outlets, or knob-and-tube wiring. If you notice frequent breaker trips, flickering lights, or outlets that feel warm, your home may need electrical upgrades. Properties in historic neighborhoods or with well water systems typically require updates to meet current safety standards and improve overall home safety.

Helpful?

Electrical projects in Shrewsbury may uncover hidden issues like outdated knob-and-tube wiring, insufficient grounding, or the need for full rewiring to meet current standards. Homes in historic districts often require special approvals, and rocky soil can complicate trenching for new lines. Weather delays, especially in winter, can also impact project timelines, so it’s wise to plan for possible surprises during upgrades.
