Clear Space Garage and Closet Storage Solutions is your one stop shop for all the garage, closet and home organization systems you will need. We are the best alternative in our service region to the less than stellar solutions you might find at one of the local big box stores. Clear Space combines a commitment to old-school quality workmanship with installation of exceptional product to create an outstanding experience for our customers. Let us help you eliminate clutter throughout your home with garage cabinets, a custom closet system, pantry, mud room, laundry room, home office, hutch, entertainment center, or a custom organizer for any other area of your home.

"Lance and Cindy from Clear Space are fantastic! We wanted a closet system that optimized the available space, gave HIM hooks galore for hats and clothes (that he otherwise won't hang up), gave HER the shoe racks of her dreams, provided LOTS of storage options, AND looked gorgeous in our newly renovated MBR. They noted everything on our wish list, and were able to show us actual products in their demo trailer (coolest set up I've ever seen!). Their pricing was fair, they provided 3D renderings (that helped tremendously), and they did a perfect job of installing the closet system. The outcome was EXACTLY what they promised and EXACTLY what we wanted. On a scale of one to ten, I'd give them a 100. They're truly a professional team offering great products and service. I cannot recommend them enough."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Vapor barriers in attics are a bit outdated and most areas no longer recommend them for attic spaces. For vented attics, the best method is usually to install drywall and cover it with latex paint before attaching insulation fiberglass, cellulose, or foam insulation. When renovating an attic to use as a living space, a contractor can guide you on the best way to cover insulation.

It is possible to insulate your walls without removing drywall, but it’s not a good idea to attempt the work yourself. A professional can use blown-in insulation or spray foam insulation to fill wall voids without opening up the walls, and the option they use typically depends on your climate and whether or not there’s insulation in your wall already that can remain in place. Spray foam insulation costs more and isn’t always a viable option, but it’s a better insulator. Call in an expert to help decide which is right for you.

At a minimum, blown-in insulation lasts 20 to 30 years. Cellulose and sheep’s wool come from natural materials, so they likely max out at around 30 years. Fiberglass and rockwool feature artificial materials that boast lengthy lifespans, up to 50 years, or even longer in some cases. As always, this timeline assumes you don’t run into any issues, such as flooding or mold, that shorten the lifespan.

Periodic checks for moisture or pest issues ensure consistent performance.

You don’t need to staple insulation, as your drywall and studs will hold it into place. But if you already have a staple gun and staples lying around, it can help keep the product in place and avoid any shifting. But, most experts agree it’s an unnecessary step.

If you’re adding a vapor barrier, you will need to staple that in place.
