"Gene Came out of July 15th to give us a quote on initially repairing our rear deck, After a detailed quote we decided to hire Target because of the upfront estimate was very well detailed and we did not want to have additional costs/change orders because we were working on a budget.
The job was completed in a timely manner, the building inspector actually completed the carpenters on their work on the inspection, I was really surprised to see that, (we had previous contractors fail other building inspections due to poor craftsmanship).
They also painted our house and stained our decks/porches. Very nice and clean crew, Fabiano was the crew leader and he was here everyday, I felt good having a point of contact.
I would definitely hire them again."

"Vallen Pro Painters and the owner Diego did a superb job at our home. They did exterior painting, interior wall repairs and painting, as well as exterior deck staining. All of their work was of the highest quality and Diego was a pleasure to work with. He listened carefully to our requests and completed them all just as we had wished. He went above and beyond in making us happy! Needless to say, we highly recommend Diego and Vallen Pro Painters!"

"Cesar is so professional and knowledgeable. He was extremely patient with us. We were staining the deck and the color was off. Cesar and his crew had to sand the whole deck again and apply the color stain. It was a huge project and Cesar was patient and made sure it was done correctly. I couldn’t have asked for a better job. It’s so beautiful! Thank you again Cesar."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

It’s important to make sure the wood on a new deck is properly seasoned. Seasoning a deck is simple: Once you build it (or have a pro do so), just leave it alone so it can acclimate to the environment. If you don’t give the deck proper seasoning time before staining, the stain can lock in any lingering moisture and cause mold, rot, and other moisture issues down the road. Give the wood at least four to eight weeks to season before you stain.

When applying multiple coats, wait four to six hours for each coat to dry. Not waiting long enough can result in streaks, peeling, and uneven color. Plus, it will be more difficult to discern where the second coat has already been applied.

No, it is not okay to paint over rotted wood. Painting over rotted wood will not address the underlying issue and can trap moisture, leading to further decay. Properly addressing the rotted wood by removing and replacing or repairing the damaged areas is necessary before you can even consider painting.

The best time to paint your deck is when temperatures are neither too cold (below 60 degrees) nor too hot (above 85 degrees). Always paint your deck when there’s no risk of rain. For fast-drying paint like acrylic or latex, ensure your deck can dry for at least four hours. Oil-based paints take longer to dry and may require 48 hours to completely cure.

Yes, it is important to wash your deck before painting to ensure the paint applies well and adheres properly. While you don't have to use a pressure washer, it is one of the most efficient cleaning methods. Pressure washing can quickly remove dirt, wood fibers, and flaked paint, getting deeper into the wood than manual scrubbing. You can also clean the deck with a stiff broom and a cleaning solution. Regardless of the method, a clean surface is essential for good paint adhesion. Make sure the deck is completely dry before applying any paint.
