"Leo and Junior are easy to work with, they listen and hear customers wishes, they are professionals and don’t cut corners, they follow the various steps needed to ensure a professional result and care about the result they produce. All inspections were passed easily without a hitch. The working conditions were hard because the summer was so hot and so humid, yet they stayed on schedule. We have already recommend "J & L Home improvements" to friends and co-workers and plan on using them again."

"Jason and his team did an excellent job on all counts. I had a shower that was leaking down through the ceiling of the room below. Jason and team coordinated with my plumber to help open up the ceiling and identify the source of the leak. He and his crew determined that the issue was due to cracked grout in the shower pan. He regrouted the shower, making sure to grind out and fill in all the previous cracks and replaced the damaged ceiling. When working with Jason, I never felt rushed. He was always willing to take the time to talk through my concerns and provide his recommendations. I felt like I was talking with a friend that was an expert at home repair and renovation. Thanks to Jason's attention to detail and desire to get things right for the customer, all the detail work was done very well. Now the shower and the room below it look as if nothing ever happened. Also, I think it's worth noting that he treats his crew well. I recommend Jason Designas 100% if you ever have any home projects or remodeling that you need done."

"Amazing experience working with Aguimar. Extremely professional and very fair, honest, and affordable pricing. Had them paint an entire wing of our new home and we couldn’t be any happier with the job that was done... would recommend them to anyone. I will only be using Bostonian Carpentry Painting for any future work on my home."

Custom Home Builders questions, answered by experts

An A-frame home can be cheaper to build than a traditional house, but that is not always a given. Prices can be fairly similar in some cases, depending on the location, design, and necessary site preparation. Costs for an A-frame typically run between $100 to $200 per square foot, which is comparable to the cost of a traditional home. The cost of an A-frame can come in under those numbers if you opt for a prefabricated kit.

Historically, Tudor homes originally stemmed from the 15th and 16th centuries, while Victorians appeared during Queen Victoria's reign in the 19th century. The design and structural differences are significant as well. The many types of Victorian architecture—such as Italianate architecture—typically feature ornate trim, wood siding, wraparound porches, and tall towers on top, such as belvederes. On the other hand, Tudor-style homes feature white stucco exteriors with exposed wooden rafters marking the house frame both inside and out.

Builder-grade is one of two types of stock cabinets, whereas semi-custom designs allow homeowners some control over the color, finish, or hardware on their cabinets. Stock cabinets are sold in construction-grade and builder-grade designs. Construction-grade cabinets are usually made from inexpensive medium-density fiberboard, which is prone to moisture damage, whereas builder-grade models are a step up with higher-quality materials. Construction-grade designs are the most common type of cabinets in America.

Green homes are often more expensive to build, averaging around $200 per square foot compared to the $150 per square foot you’d spend to build a standard home. However, green homes can save you money on your utility bills by consuming less energy or creating energy using solar panels or wind turbines on-site. They’re more expensive to build, but they often end up costing less in the long run.

How long it takes to build a log cabin depends on a variety of factors, including its size and design, and whether or not you have to clear the land. Construction can take a few weeks for a prefab log cabin on an established site, but up to eight or nine months for a custom cabin on undeveloped land. In comparison, the timeline to build a house is typically four to 12 months.
