"This was a basement insulation and door hanging project. Jim showed up on timeâ for both the estimate and the actual work. He was courteous and helpful; and when the project changed slightly, he was able to adjust to meet the unanticipated differences. The work was done well, he cleaned up, and made sure we were happy with the completed job. Prices were affordable; we would hire again and have a spring project in mind."

Small jobs welcome

"Kayla came in and took charge of organizing our walk-in closet and pantry. She doesn't waste time, she goes right to work and she is very detail oriented. She knows how to tactfully ask your needs versus wants and turn our responses in a wonderful transformation. We are currently booking her to organize our garage too. Thumbs up!"

"I recently had my shingle roof replaced and I?m very happy with the results. The team was professional, punctual, and completed the job efficiently. The quality of the work is excellent, and the new roof looks great. They kept the work area clean and communicated well throughout the process. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a roof replacement."

"MAB Woodworking responded to our online request for kitchen cabinet remodeling to accommodate a new current model refrigerator. Our 45 year old Amana refrigerator died suddenly & no modern refrigerator could fit into the existing built-in space. Ugh! Michael Butler, MAB founder, visited our home first to scope out a vision for moving the cabinets to allow room for a new KitcenAid 36” counter depth refrigerator. Michael sensed our urgency, immediately scheduled the repair, giving us a firm date for refrigerator install & appeared two days later completing the work on time & on budget. Closets questions, answered by experts

A standard walk-in closet has dimensions of 7 feet by 10 feet at a minimum and an average of 100 square feet. Remember that the dimensions of the closet aren’t necessarily the usable space. This means that a 100-square-foot walk-in closet with shelves on each wall and an island may only have a walkable area of 50 square feet or less. Make sure you consider the effect of additions when you plan the room—mockups are a great idea.

The vertical space between closet shelves depends on what you're storing. For clothing like shirts and sweaters, 10 to 12 inches is enough. Towels and linens need 12 to 15 inches, while tall storage bins may require 18 inches or more. Overcrowding your shelves can reduce accessibility and increase clutter, so be sure to leave breathing room for your items.

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.

Yes, many providers offer design consultations to help optimize and maximize space, functionality, and usage. It is recommended to confirm the availability of this service with your specific installer or contractor.

Yes, 12-inch shelves are often considered the standard closet shelf depth for storing folded clothing, shoes, and small containers. However, if you plan to store bulky items such as blankets, baskets, or cleaning supplies, you may want to go deeper. For specialized layouts, an adjustable system can give you more flexibility.
