"For those of you looking for an honest, kind, caring person in the world of “hazardous vapors” look no further than this company. Kevin at All Clean Environmental Services took my panicked call on a Saturday and listened in detail about health concerns regarding “moth ball odors” in my family’s rental property. With that he volunteered to come and “check out” the offensive odors. Kevin was very discreet as well as thorough in his handling of visit to “our” home. Having never dealt with this problem he was quickly in contact with his suppliers of treatment options."

"Dennis is very knowledgeable. He walked me through the whole process when he came to workup an estimate. He answered all my questions. Due to an addition, it was determined that I needed an 2nd suction point thus a more expensive install (but still reasonable). That is something that I wouldn't have been aware of if I had gone with the telephone estimate that I got from another vendor. It would have been an unpleasant surprise if the other vendor came for an install and then increased the price. Every home is different so I was happy that Dennis had come out to do an estimate. I was able to prepare for the install by clearing the area where the work would be done. It allowed for an orderly move of boxes versus paying them to move the boxes or they waiting around until the area was cleared. I was very happy with the actual installation. There was no mess that I had to clean up. The set-up was very neat and professional. The system began to work immediately. The radon levels are now in the acceptable range. I would highly recommend Boston Radon."

"Mohan was just phenomenal. We called him on a Friday to see if he could do a home inspection for a house we plan to buy. I had difficulty scheduling a time when he and my buyers agent were both free, so Mohan called my agent himself to work out the schedule. Within 5 minutes of calling Mohan, I had an inspection scheduled for the next day. The appointment was for 1pm and he said it would take about 1.5 hours. We arrived a few minutes before 1pm and Mohan had already arrived and inspected the roof — he came early because it was going to rain and he wanted to still safely inspect the roof. During COVID19, Mohan was very clear ahead of time how we were all going to maintain safety. He wore a mask the entire time and had a laser pointer to show us stuff from a safe distance. He took pictures of everything. He explained everything and was so patient with us, especially as first time home buyers. Mohan also isn’t alarmist but still very upfront about potential repairs. For example, Mohan would say that we should replace the hot water heater because of leaking and explained how much it would cost. He also would show us stuff that didn’t need to be fixed now but should be fixed within the next X amount of years. He even showed us preventive stuff - for example, the gutter downspouts were draining right next to the home, which has a stone foundation and can be highly susceptible to water damage. Mohan suggested to buy a dehumidifier and place it in the basement to prevent moisture and prevent damage that hadnt even occurred. The appointment was for 1pm Saturday and by end of the day, I had received a written report of his inspection."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Installing a mitigation system reduces radon levels, which can cause lung cancer, providing peace of mind and long-term health benefits. It can also increase your home’s value, as many buyers prefer properties with radon safety measures in place. The investment is relatively low compared to the potential health risks associated with prolonged radon exposure.

Keeping radon from getting into your home is much better than having to get rid of it once it's already indoors. While there may not be a way to fully prevent radon from getting into your home, there are things you can do to reduce the gas's ability to enter.

Sealing foundation cracks and openings can help keep the gas from seeping inside. Improving air flow, such as by opening windows, can also be helpful. If you're building your home from scratch, talk to your contractor about using radon-resistant construction to keep the gas out.

Professional radon detection involves placing test kits in the lowest lived-in level of the house for a period, usually 48 hours to several months, followed by lab analysis of collected data.

To determine whether you have radon in your home, you must run a test. Radon gas has no odor or color, so you won’t notice a concentration of radon. You could purchase a DIY test at a local hardware store, but it may not deliver completely trustworthy results. The best way to test and receive accurate results is to hire a local radon detection specialist.

No level of radon is technically safe, but because it’s everywhere—even in the air outside—it’s impossible to avoid entirely. Instead, the Environmental Protection Agency encourages taking preventative measures if the levels of radon in your home rise above 2 pCi/L. (For reference, the average radon level in homes across the United States is 1.3 pCi/L.
