"Contacted S&S via Angies List to get a quote on some electrical work. Scott and his team were very responsive and helpful. It turns out that I did not use S&S for this work at this time, but I wanted to comment favorably on their customer service. Would consider them for future work and recommend others consider them."

"Electrical baseboard was not working in living room or kitchen. Mark from Durocher Electric was able to confirm that the units were receiving electric current, and were then working properly. Also a second project checking a ceiling light fan combo where the light was not working. Mark determined that a part in the light fixture was burned out. A new fan/light fixture was put in by Mark. Excellent job on the two projects."

"I had an excellent experience with Andy and his team. I had difficulty finding a competent electrician in my area until I broadened my search and found Eight Electric. Very competent, indeed! At our house, we wanted to move our underground service (relocated the utility power meter to an off-house free-standing support), add a custom industrial remote contactor, add a ground wire and demote the main panel to a distribution panel. This was not a trivial effort to do in one day, especially since the surface was at freezing temps and groundwater filled the trench on the day of work. Eight Electric worked with me to understand my exact requirements, set up the permit and coordinated with the utility. Two experienced electricians and two apprenticing electricians arrived and dug into the task, quite literally. In the end, and despite some late afternoon curveballs, Andy & Co. finished the task and the electrical inspector signed off all in the same day. Andy was easy to work with, reliable, communicated effectively by email, and had office help to organize the paperwork. I especially appreciated that I was allowed to feel I was a valued partner in this effort. I had very strict requirements and so monitored the day's activities -- the electricians did not freak out from the scrutiny, but instead were confident of their expertise. A win, win for all!"

"Dave, was professional and reliable. He did the job very well and returned when we had questions and resolved them. We upgraded our service from 100 to 200 amp electrical service. We also installed a charging port for our new electric car. We are very satisfied with the new service and charge station. I would highly recommend him to others."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

For minor electrical issues in Charlton, always turn off power at the breaker before replacing bulbs or using an outlet tester. You can safely reset tripped breakers and press GFCI reset buttons. If your home has older wiring, aluminum connections, or you notice persistent issues after these steps, it’s safest to contact a local expert familiar with Charlton’s housing stock.

Helpful?

In Charlton, simple projects like replacing outlets or installing new fixtures usually take a few hours. Upgrading panels or adding circuits often requires one to three days, accounting for local permit reviews and inspections. Larger projects, such as whole-house rewiring, may take up to a week, especially if weather or rural supply chains impact scheduling or material availability.

Helpful?

Upgrading electrical systems in Charlton often increases home value and buyer interest, especially with modern panels, updated wiring, and added smart-home features. Buyers appreciate documented improvements, energy-efficient lighting, and readiness for future needs like EV charging. In Charlton’s rural market, these upgrades signal safety and convenience, making your property more attractive to families seeking move-in-ready homes.

Helpful?

The longevity of electrical work in Charlton depends on using weather-rated materials for New England’s climate, ensuring moisture barriers in basements, and selecting copper wiring for reliability. Properly sealing outdoor connections and following local permit requirements are essential. Choosing modern safety devices and scheduling regular inspections also help electrical systems withstand Charlton’s seasonal temperature swings and rural conditions.

Helpful?

Signs it’s time for electrical work in Charlton include frequent breaker trips, flickering lights during storms, warm or discolored outlets, and burning odors. Homes built before 1980 or with original fuse boxes should be evaluated. If you’re planning renovations, adding major appliances, or notice outlets that don’t support modern devices, it’s wise to schedule an electrical inspection or upgrade.
