"Contacted S&S via Angies List to get a quote on some electrical work. Scott and his team were very responsive and helpful. It turns out that I did not use S&S for this work at this time, but I wanted to comment favorably on their customer service. Would consider them for future work and recommend others consider them."

"Called Paul to consult on a quick charger for an electric vehicle as well as to replace several outdoor outlets at my home. He went above and beyond to plot out the best and cheapest path from our electrical panel to the driveway in our renovated and added onto â 50â s ranch. The work he did I was quick and quality. We have plans to have him back for more in the spring. Highly recommend!"

"Mike from A&B electric did an excellent job on what I consider a complicated project. The project required conversion to 220V, sub-panel installation, external receptacle, switch, and device wiring; I'm delighted with his attention to detail, customer service, and overall execution."

"Joe was amazing. His assessment was to the point. I am not a person who knows electrical stuff. Joe explained everything how he was going to get the project done, very detailed. His time estimate was perfect. He quoted the right amount. He is very responsive to calls and texts. I highly recommend Joe for electrical projects. "Going above and beyond" is something I saw in his work ethic, which is very important. For all my future electrical projects, it is definitely Joe."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

If your Oxford home experiences frequent breaker trips, flickering lights, or outlets that feel warm, it’s wise to schedule an inspection. Homes with older electrical panels or original wiring—especially those built before 1970—often need upgrades. Plan major projects for late spring or early fall to avoid weather delays, but don’t wait if you notice burning smells or visible corrosion, as these signal urgent issues.

Helpful?

In Oxford, electrical issues like burning odors, visible sparks, or outlets exposed to water require immediate attention due to the risk of fire or shock. Address panel corrosion, persistent flickering lights, or faulty GFCI outlets within a couple of weeks. Projects such as adding outdoor wiring or surge protection can wait a month or two, but always check HVAC electrical connections before seasonal temperature changes.

Helpful?

Signs in Oxford homes include outlets near sinks lacking GFCI protection, ungrounded or loose outlets, exposed wire splices, and frequent breaker trips. Rust or corrosion on electrical panels—often caused by local humidity—signals a problem. If your home has knob-and-tube wiring, outdated panels, or visible DIY work without permits, it’s time for a professional inspection and possible electrical panel upgrade.

Helpful?

In Oxford, you can safely reset GFCI outlets or replace standard switches if you turn off power at the breaker and use a voltage tester. Always keep your hands and tools dry, especially after heavy rain or during humid spells common in local basements. Never attempt repairs during ice storms or on the main panel—leave new circuit installations or aluminum wiring issues to a licensed professional.

Helpful?

In Oxford, winter’s deep frost and frequent ice storms can delay underground wiring and increase the risk of moisture intrusion in outdoor electrical boxes. Spring and fall bring rapid temperature swings, which may cause condensation inside electrical panels and expansion in outdoor wiring. Summer thunderstorms make surge protection and regular electrical panel upgrades especially important, as power surges and humidity can accelerate corrosion and wear on exterior components.
