Customers say: Super punctual

"After initial conversations with John, I hired ASAP to complete my lead inspection for a recent property that I acquired. John was able to answer all my questions and address all of my concerns. Chris came out to complete the inspection within 48 hrs of my request. He was very thorough in his report, which I had in my hands in less than two days. I was able to hand over the report to the removal company that I ended up hiring. When the job was complete, Chris came back out within 48 hrs of the request to complete the reinspection and tests. I have no concerns with ASAP and would definitely use them in the future. They were very quick to respond to me and address all of my questions and concerns."

"MKJ were professional, timely, and a pleasure to work with. Although our initial building inspection failed (due to a confusion between building codes), MKJ went above and beyond in assisting us with remediating the issue to ensure we passed."

"Jon came by for a consult to look at some ugly looking black staining that was growing in my basement. He was very professional and punctual and thoroughly explained why it was not mold, but harmless mildew and how to rectify it. I was so appreciative for his integrity and honesty and I will absolutely use Indoor Environmental if I ever do get mold in my house."

Customers say: Quick response

"We hired Ken and the team to do lead abatement work which meant he had to replace a significant number of windows (15) in our very old house built in 1700s. These were not simple jobs! His attention to detail and his creativity in solving unexpected issues was valued greatly. He was responsive and professional throughout the process and worked wonders getting the work done in a tight timeline so we could move into our new home. You can trust Ken and his team to give good advice and do the job right."

Lead Testing and Removal questions, answered by experts

Boston features an older housing stock, meaning homes built before 1978 often contain hazards. MA law requires property owners to address these issues if a child under six lives there. You must also account for contaminated soil in urban yards and specific regulations if your home sits in a historic district. Address lead testing and removal promptly to keep your property safe and compliant with local standards.

Helpful?

Protect your family by arranging temporary housing during active lead testing and removal. MA regulations strongly advise keeping children and pregnant women away from the work site. Keep pets away from disturbed exterior soil, and wipe their paws before they go inside. Ensure your children receive routine blood tests from their pediatrician, and wait for a passing clearance inspection before allowing anyone back into your Boston home.

Helpful?

You must act immediately if a child under six lives in your pre-1978 home or if anyone shows elevated blood levels. Peeling or chipping paint also requires urgent attention to prevent exposure. If your paint remains intact, you can use temporary control measures while planning full lead testing and removal. Schedule exterior projects during warmer MA months, but handle interior hazards right away regardless of the season.

Helpful?

You will work with several specialized professionals during lead testing and removal. Certified inspectors and risk assessors identify hazards and recommend solutions. Licensed contractors perform the actual removal work, while independent technicians handle the final clearance testing. Standard general contractors cannot legally perform this work in Boston. Always hire certified specialists to ensure your project complies with all state safety regulations and protects your household.

Helpful?

Safety during lead testing and removal requires strict dust control and containment. Contractors must use heavy plastic sheeting and specialized filtration to prevent hazardous dust from spreading into neighboring Boston units. All debris is classified as hazardous waste and requires proper disposal. A certified professional must perform a final clearance inspection and dust wipe test before anyone reenters the space to ensure the environment is completely safe.
