"They did a GREAT job! They first ran into permit problems in Brookline, but Rich (?) was able to fix that and didn't charge me extra. Then on the day of the work, they showed up and worked through to the next day and removed the whole chimney from the inside without making a dent in the house. I was MOST impressed with this as I have 2 small children so dust is a big deal to me. Since they are so prompt and efficiently, i was able to coordinate with my roofer to come in on the same day to seal up the roof. At the end of the day, you couldn't even tell that someone had removed a chimney just minutes before. Highly recommended!

"Took advantage of a promotion that this company ran for chimney cleaning. Although the promotion expired, they did honor the quote/price--which I appreciated. The crew came out and did the job. They were careful and didn't make any mess, which I appreciated. The cleaning was done from the bottom-up (going up through the chimney) which I didn't expect--although it makes sense. However, I have a very tall chimney (100+ feet up - it's a large 3-floor victorian house) so I wondered how that type of cleaning would work. Anyway, they did the job and I thought I got a good deal. However, I had a mason out for some other work on the chimney. When he did a full inspection he said the cleaning had only gone 'half-way' up and that they didn't do a complete job. I trust the mason more, because he did some significant jobs for multiple friends. Also, I was asking the crew leader for a quote for chimney caps. He said they could do it, but that they would definitely need a lift because of the height. And that a lift would probably cost $1000 or more (that didn't include the cost of installing the chimney cap either). Not sure if he was just trying to discourage me from choosing them for the work, but the conversation felt a little 'slick' to me. Anyway, the mason quoted me $400 for each and would go up on the roof without a lift. So clearly I didn't need to spend over $2000 to get the caps done. So in short, this is 'you get what your pay for.' If you have small house, it's probably perfect. But for me, they short-cut the job which is a disappointment."

"Actually purchased a "deal" from Angie's list for a reduced rate (about 75% of what I've paid in the past for other companies), and then called Richard at NE Renovations to schedule a date.  He told me it would be best to call back when all the leaves were off the trees so I wouldn't have to have them come out twice.

I was nervous because I have been burned in the past scheduling late season cleanings - one company just told me the day before that they were done for the season and couldn't help me until the spring.  We had a nor'easter the next weekend...

But Richard's crew actually called me early in November, when they thought the leaves were down in the area, to remind me.  We agreed they'd come out a few days later, and they did.

They went up on a fairly high roof with no issues, worked well with some other trades that were at the house at the same time, and were done in a very reasonable amount of time.

All in all I'm happy that everything was done on time and as promised, and given other experiences with other companies I'll absolutely call them again next year.
