"Lintons Cool Air did a Generac generator install on my house about a week ago. Extremely professional, very knowledgeable. Listened to what we wanted out of our generator and gave us options on what was available. He knew we would be on propane and took that into consideration by not recommending the biggest most expensive generator out there. Our generator works great and handles everything very well. The job was installed very professionally and looks really good. We are very impressed. I would definitely recommend him for anything needed, generator install, hvac install, ect. Brian really knows his stuff."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes, a dehumidifier and air conditioner can be used simultaneously in a home. A dehumidifier can bolster an air conditioner’s efficiency. Typically, a dehumidifier is used when the air conditioner alone cannot keep a home’s humidity levels at a comfortable indoor humidity level, which should, ideally, be between 30% and 50%.

Set your house temperature between 55 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit while on vacation, depending on the season. If it’s winter, don’t go below 55 degrees. In the summer, the best AC temperature for energy savings is no higher than 85 degrees. You can save anywhere from 10% to 15% on your energy costs by adjusting the temperature while you’re away. If you have a smart thermostat, set up vacation modes for each season. On your way home, turn off vacation mode to allow the home to warm up or cool down before you arrive.

Window AC units use a fair amount of electricity during use, but the usage pales in comparison to central units. As a matter of fact, window units use around a third of the amount of energy as a central AC. On average, a window air conditioner costs between $15 and $40 per month to run, though this depends on a number of external factors.

It's recommended to change HVAC air filters every one to three months. The frequency depends on factors such as filter type, indoor air quality, and whether there are pets or people with allergies in the household. Regular filter changes maintain proper airflow, improve indoor air quality, and ensure efficient HVAC system operation.

The compressor is the heart of your AC system and is one of the most important parts required to keep it functioning properly. If your AC unit is making a popping, banging, clanging, clicking, or screeching sound, it could point to a problem with the compressor. If the unit is physically vibrating, that can also be an indication that your AC compressor is going bad.
