"They call back the same day and was able to set up an appointment the very next day. They came out and did a complete diagnostic of my generac home standby generator and narrowed it down to two (2) parts. I was a little bit unsatisfied that they wasn’t able to narrow it down to the exact part . But overall I was happy with the service and the professionalism and would recommend them."

"Bernard Blanchard gave me an estimate for the work to be completed. He couldn't give me an exact dollar amount for the work under the house because the wiring was laying in mud, criss-crossed from the breaker box into every direction, without junction boxes and under pipes. After several estimates of hearing the same information we went with Bernard since he understood we wanted it done correctly but wanted to keep costs down. He worked with us in every way to make sure we were satisfied. He showed up on time every day and worked by himself for 6-8 hours a day. In the end, even though Bernard couldn't tell me how much the total job would cost on the penny because of materials and labor for under our house, he was only $125 off from his estimate. THAT RARELY HAPPENS with these types of extensive problems. I would like to mention that Bernard was very determined to get our power back on the day we switched breaker boxes by 4pm. Needless to say, we were very happy with his commitment to us to restore power within 5 - 6 hours, even though it was very difficult to do. All our food in our fridge/freezer was fine and we haven't had any problems. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this man's work.

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Slidell has residential electricians for home wiring, panel upgrades, and smart home integration. Storm restoration contractors specialize in repairing hurricane and flood-related electrical damage, a necessity in this coastal area. Commercial electricians handle projects for local businesses and marinas. Some contractors focus on pool and spa wiring, landscape lighting, solar installations, or EV charging stations—services in demand due to Slidell’s climate and lifestyle.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Slidell should prioritize a full electrical inspection to check for storm or flood damage, especially if the home is near Lake Pontchartrain. Upgrading to weatherproof outdoor outlets and adding GFCI protection in flood-prone areas is wise. Installing a whole-house surge protector and prepping for generator hookup can help manage frequent power outages. Consider attic or ceiling fans to improve comfort during Slidell’s hot, humid summers.

Helpful?

Slidell’s subtropical climate, frequent thunderstorms, and proximity to Lake Pontchartrain create unique electrical challenges. High humidity and salt air accelerate corrosion on outdoor wiring and panels, so using marine-grade, corrosion-resistant materials is essential. Electrical panels should be installed above typical flood lines due to local flooding risks. After hurricanes or tropical storms, a comprehensive electrical inspection is crucial to detect hidden moisture damage and ensure ongoing electrical safety.

Helpful?

In Slidell, persistent flickering lights after heavy rain, rust on electrical panels, or outlets that feel damp can indicate water intrusion—a common issue due to local flooding. If you notice a musty odor near outlets or frequent breaker trips during humid weather, these could signal underlying moisture problems. Addressing these early helps prevent major electrical repairs and ensures your home’s electrical safety in Slidell’s wet climate.

Helpful?

In Slidell, keep a non-contact voltage tester, GFCI tester, and digital multimeter for routine electrical safety checks. Stock up on corrosion inhibitor spray and waterproof wire nuts to combat high humidity and salt air. Weatherproof electrical tape and silicone sealant help protect outdoor connections. Moisture-absorbing packs are useful for panel boxes, and heavy-duty extension cords are handy for temporary power needs after storms or flooding events.
