"NOLA tree service did a great job of trimming our oak tree. Jessie listened to what I wanted done and quoted me a price based on what I needed done. They worked quick and cleaned as they went. All the branches and leaves were picked up. I would definitely recommend NOLA tree service to anyone."

"Very prompt with estimates and on time to do the job1 Did a terrific job removing a large tree stump in our back yard, a tree stump, from a tree that came down in Ida, in the front of our house and a neighbor's tree stump, that had grown under our fence and foundation, from the side of our house. Mr. Travis also removed the fence and filled the stump holes with dirt. Very professional, Would definitely use them again."

"We had a wonderful experience with Brian Tubre, owner of Ring Tree Service. Brian came first and evaluated our job and provided a detailed invoice for the service. He is very involved in the entire removal and we had several hours to speak during the project. His knowledge and confidence were excellent. The price for the service was very fair. I would not hesitate to have them back for another removal and would gladly recommend Ring for people needing a tree or trees removed."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

If tree branches cross well into your property line, in many cases, these branches become part of your property, and you can trim them up until your neighbor’s property line. However, this issue will vary based on local ordinances, so you should do your research before making any decisions. Better yet, speak with your neighbor about how to handle any tree issues.

If you don’t mind the branches, you can leave them be, but if they’re becoming a hazard, it’s definitely worth having a conversation.

Large, established tree branches won’t grow roots, but if you find a young tree branch that’s less than about a year old, you’ve got a shot. Put it in water or soil as soon as possible for best results. You’ll know the branch is viable if it’s about the thickness of a pencil and has some leaves or needles.

The best way to protect tree roots is to avoid the roots entirely by excavating outside the root radius of the tree. For nearby projects, it’s a good idea to construct a temporary retaining wall. But that’s not always possible, depending on the project and the root system. In these cases, consider using alternative equipment like an auger to tunnel under the ground.

Remember, tree roots can damage nearby cement foundations as they grow. If a tree is close enough to interfere with large excavations, it may be better to remove the tree than risk future problems.

It’s possible, although a lot depends on the cause of damage and what steps you take. If the remaining parts of the maple tree are alive and not under attack by disease or pests, they can often be saved even if large portions of the maple tree have died. Frequent watering, careful pruning, mulch, and any recommended fungicides or insecticides can all help with survival.

Licensing requirements for arborists, also known as tree surgeons, vary by state and municipality. Many areas require a license, which often involves specialized education and experience. Even if not mandated, it's wise to hire a licensed professional as they tend to have more experience. Beyond licensing, look for certifications from organizations like the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) or the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA), as this indicates a higher level of expertise. Certified arborists must typically pass a comprehensive exam. Always confirm that the arborist has a business license and is fully insured to protect yourself from liability. Seeking positive recommendations from local homeowners is also a good step in finding a qualified professional.
