Stay Dry Waterproofing, LLC specializes in Waterproofing Basements, foundation settlement repairs, and mold testing and removal. We use patented, safe and proven methods of repair.

"They are overpriced, did not take proper precautions to protect our carpet, promised us professional carpet cleaning, then sent out two of their guys with rags and a shop vac to “clean” the carpets. Then we were told it’s not policy to send out carpet cleaners, and that we’re on our own. We were promised 4 different things involving quality of the project, none were done. This place is a total scam, and has SERIOUS communication and misinformation issues internally. Would never use them again. All they did was open up walls, spray some stuff, made a mess, and left us to handle any problems stemming from their lack of attention to detail, and crappy policies."

Over 16 years combined experience. We are a family owned-operated business providing affordable Foundation & Structure Repair, Waterproofing and Drainage Services to the entire tri-state area! We offer free estimates. Owners are on site for each job to make sure we deliver professional and high quality work with a warranty.

"Hired FSRG to install a sump pump in basement and a driveway trench drain in front of garage door. They installed the trench drain directly underneath the garage door and we had to insist that it be relocated. After the next heavy rain the sump pump vapor locked and water overflowed from sump well into the basement. FSRG would not address the vapor lock issue stating that they install these pumps all the time and they work fine. My biggest complaint is not that the job was plagued with problems but that I was made to feel like a problem customer when I informed FSRG of the issues with their installation."

Sands Engineering is a full service Structural and Civil Engineering design company licensed in Ohio and Kentucky. Billing is dependent on the type of project. Small structural inspections are usually paid for at the time of service, but larger projects (house plans, etc.) are billed at key milestones. I am a one-person corporation that provides structural engineering services to architects, sign companies, homeowners and business owners. Most of my projects are smaller in scope, but I have worked on larger projects as part of a design team headed by a lead architect. As a small company, I often have the flexibility to revise my schedule to meet the needs of a client with a tight timeline on a project that requires only a few hours. I am licensed to practice engineering in the state of Ohio (license #E-48276), and I carry professional liability insurance through the American Society of Civil Engineers. Fees are based on a rate of $75 per hour, with a fixed fee schedule for small signs and similar structures.

We are part of a network of national engineering firms. Our parent firm was established over 50 years ago and Criterium Engineers has been present in the Cincinnati area for over 25 years. We provide a broad range of engineering inspection and investigation services for buildings. These services include foundation and structural inspections, mold and moisture investigations, reserve and transition studies for community associations, and property condition assessments. All of our engineers are professionally licensed in OH and/or KY. We strive to provide neutrality and professionalism in our services. We also consider every property we investigate to be someone's home or major investment. We provide services that we would like to receive if we were hiring us.

"While working on purchasing a home, I needed a quick and thorough review of some items of concern before closing on the house. Criterium's engineers and representatives were responsive, professional, and thorough. They took time to explain things in terms I could understand and they went above and beyond to respond on short notice."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

Proper licensing and experience in residential and commercial structural projects.

The easiest way to tell if a wall is load bearing is to check if it’s an exterior wall or if it runs perpendicular to the joists above and below it (or parallel to beams). Exterior walls are almost always load-bearing, and walls that run under beams or parallel to them are also usually load-bearing. There are exceptions to these rules, and walls that don’t fit into these categories can still be load-bearing. If you’re unsure, hire a structural engineer to look at your home to assess whether or not the wall is structural.

Building codes for spiral staircases will vary by your location. Most local codes will specify minimum tread width, riser height, handrail requirements, and headroom. These standards help ensure safety and accessibility for all users. Always check local codes before you begin the installation to ensure compliance and avoid costly modifications or fines.

Cathedral ceilings make a statement in your home, but at the cost of your attic space. Normal attics are wide open, which allows warm air to move around and exit your home. Because of this, cathedral ceilings make your home less energy efficient and put your ceiling at risk of venting issues if you’re not careful. They also reduce your attic storage space, potentially cause an echo, and even make it harder to change a light bulb.

Most structural engineers offer free quotes, regardless of the size of the job. For simple inspections when buying or selling a home, engineers typically charge a flat fee that may be based solely on your home’s foundation type and square footage. For larger projects, like new construction and major home renovations, an engineer will either perform an analysis of your project and site and provide you with a formal estimate, or they will do a more in-depth assessment and in-person site inspection before coming up with a per-hour or per-project cost estimate. In most cases, the estimate is free.
