I had a very frustrating experience with this company. I had foundation issues in my home I bought this past January, so I reached out to Hughes Construction to see about them working on my project for me. After initial contact they said they required a structural engineer to draw out plans prior to beginning work. So they recommended Cole Engineering. I used Cole engineering and was charged $2,500 for the plans to repair the foundation. Once I had the plans, emailed them to Hughes Construction, and tried coordinating follow on construction. Tami Ludwig reached out and said they weren’t able to assist me. I’m out $2,500 and was able to help out their friends engineering company with business while Hughes left me high and dry. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Response from Hughes Construction Co
"Thank you for your feedback. We review each project on a project-by-project basis to determine if our company is a good fit in regard to scope and schedule. Unfortunately, our schedule and your timeframe did not align. When you reached out to us earlier this year, we informed you we typically schedule several months out for new projects. We also communicated our requirement regarding a structural engineer for projects such as yours. A weblink to firms we refer to was provided to assist you with locating a licensed professional. The decision however is up to the homeowner as to which engineer to move forward with, if at all. You later provided our office with a copy of your report from the firm you had selected. In the report the engineer recommended designs for your project. In addition, the engineer requested to be considered for any design work you would elect to move forward with and proposed a fee of $2,500. Again, the decision to hire an engineer and pay for designs is up to the homeowner and independent of Hughes Construction. We offered to review the designs if you elected to obtain them to see if the project was something we could assist you with. In order to quote the project our office would need to see designs from a licensed engineer. Our office received your designs in June, at that time you had indicated that you needed the project done immediately. In response we informed you we were scheduling into next year and we could not accommodate completing the project immediately. We did mention that if your timing was flexible, we could take another look at the project and see about providing you with a quote for the work."

It went very well. The drain is absorbing all the access water. I had other estimates a year earlier and Hughes was right on. I will use them, again.

I hired Hughes Construction to install a concrete driveway. I think the best way to describe their work would be what every one of my neighbors said, "Wow, that was fast, your driveway looks great!"
What they didn't see was the amount of detail and coordination Tyler put into the work he installed.  He had to have a city license, a city permit and a city inspection all lined up before he could pour concrete.  He also had to survey the property, demo a fence, demo a curb, demo a sidewalk, move an air conditioner condensing unit (which he built a platform for and hung from my house)  and haul away several yards of topsoil before he could even begin prepping for the concrete placement (which included compacting the sub-grade, installing edge forms, installing gravel sub base and then compacting the sub base). With all of that said, he showed up on a Wednesday and was done on Friday. so much for that project being a headache. No extra costs, no hidden fees, no surprises during construction, no waiting on a "piece or a part". Just experience and hard work!...Would recommend for any project.

Everything went smoothly from the estimate to the first time they came out to install the bathroom exhaust fans. They also made the outlets live all the time in the bathroom (previously only worked when the light switch was on) I wasn't home at the time to see their work but my mother was and said they were very nice and professional. The only sign that they had been there were the installed fans, they cleaned up any mess they may have created in the process. We had planned on them coming back the next month to run electric out to the back yard for a pool pump. We ended up with an additional plug in our laundry room and another out by the shed. They come in very handy!  They dug the trench by hand and since we had moved the original location of the pump we dug the rest of the way to save the money. Everything passed inspection no problem.

I cannot speak highly enough of the professionalism of the entire Hughes Construction team.  The work that was performed was extensive and difficult and the team took great care during every step of this process which took approximately a week.  The team was there promptly every morning and worked diligently throughout the day.  Communication was excellent.  On days where we could not be there, we received a call detailing progress.  When we were there, the team was always available to answer our questions.  The work was performed to engineers design and in accordance with their detailed proposal.  It was a professional effort from beginning to end.  I would highly recommend Hughes Contruction.

Excellent. Tyler is very professional and communicates well. He and his crew were organized, performed the work in a timely manner, and cleaned up well. The work was extensive and complex; I am not an expert in this line of work, but it appears to have been carefully prepared and executed. I would highly recommend this company

Tyler Hughes communicated with us in a timely fashion from beginning to end. When asked questions pertaining to the job (ex. Do we need to get a permit? What are the pros and cons of getting the job done from the inside vs. the outside of the foundation?, etc.), his answers were clear and detailed. They arrived on time to do the job. When the job was being done, Tyler made sure to ask us for input about any questions he had, such as how we would like to have the debris disposed of. They cleaned up after themselves appropriately, and the quality of the job done was excellent. All in all, it was the perfect experience. I can't think of anything they could have done to improve upon it. I only wish that everyone who works on a house, regardless of their specialty, could be this professional.

They worked hard and effectively every day that they were here. They were concerned about
doing a good job for us, but more concerned about doing the right job
for our house. We appreciated their work ethics and professionalism.
GREAT JOB, guys!

Hughes Construction did excellent work at a competitive price. All work was clearly communicated in their proposal and was executed as specified in a professional and quality manner. The only exception due to material availability was worked with us in advance to achieve a quality alternative at no extra charge. Although we agreed to a mid-June installation schedule, we requested an earlier completion if possible, and Hughes came through in doing the work well ahead of schedule when they had an opening come up in their schedule. Tyler Hughes was always easy to reach by phone and communicated well. We would definitely use them again.

This company is very professional. I received a return call on the same day I phoned. Tyler came by in the evening. I received a detailed quote the next day. He scheduled our job once we made the decision to use his company. Really, no one else was as professional or as timely. The job was completed when he said it would be and the job site was left clean.

Outstanding!  Tyler and his assistant arrived on time and walked me through what they would be doing and gave me an estimate of the time needed to complete the work.  They finished ahead of the schedule provided to me which was refreshing.  Before leaving, Tyler explained what I should do over the next several day and asked me to call, regardless if there were issues or not, as a follow up.  Tyler and his assistant cleaned the area where they worked as if they had not been there.  I could not be more pleased with their work and professionalism.

They were very good. They showed up on time. They came out to do a preliminary visit to make sure they could do the work. Then they came back on schedule and did the work in less time than they estimated it would take. The wall has held and there hasn't been any more water leaking.

We had various concrete issues, and we called Hughes construction based on good reviews.  Tyler Hughes stopped by, and gave us some solid advice on how to best deal with them.  First, he recommended a structural engineer inspection rather than trying to sell us something we did not need.
After the engineer came, he recommended another company to do some slab jacking for our porch which Hughes does not currently do.  I did contract Hughes to fill a crack in the basement wall though.  He was punctual, professional, friendly, and was the lowest bid.  Could not ask for more.

Went very well.   Tyler was very thorough in explaining what he planned to do, his schedule, and what we could expect of his crew.  He and his crew were always on time, professional, and stuck to their schedule.  There were a few instances when rented equipment had issues (for example lost a hyrdraulic line on an excavator), but in those instances Tyler kept the equipment on site longer until it could be repaired and did not charge me for any incremental time or cost.   Tyler was on site every day and when unexpected issues arose (we had to change our engineering solution at one point after excavating the foundation) he identified them for us immediately so that we could resolve them.   He was a pleasure to work with.   As an added bonus, Tyler extensively documented the whole project with digital photos and then gave us a copy of all of them at the end of the project.  I can therefore reference all of the work as it progressed and if I ever need to show it to someone to demonstrate the quality of the repair in the future I will be able to).

Fantastic. I had used Hughes Construction last year to repair a large foundation crack. This year I was prepared to remodel the entire basement. This was an extensive project that we did room by room.
The old basement was dark, with old paneling, cracked foundation, bad lighting etc.
Hughes tore out the paneling, insulated, installed drywall, redid the ceilings. Along the way this also involved electrical and plumbing work, which they coordinated and handled. I did not have to source and manage any of the subcontractors.
The new basement is now livable, comfortable, and functional. We have an office, a laundry room, and a rec room that we love. It's clean, bright, and no longer a "dark cave". We are thrilled with the results.
Working with Hughes is always a great experience. Tyler and his crew are professional, punctual, respectful of your home. They do excellent work, leave the job site in great condition, and are creative with solutions to potential issues that may come up during the project. I would recommend them to anyone.
