"Mixing old with new always tends to lend to PROBLEMS, especially  in construction. We had ordered the same fencing that had been installed prior (years earlier) to add to that fence. Dan's fence did agree to do the installation even though he would not normally consider installing another companies product.  Since the fence had been installed years before we purchased the property and it was still available, Steve Magee, owner of Dan's Fence Co. agreed to help us with our project. What we did not know is while it still had the same name that company had changed the dimensions enough to cause multiple installation problems. These problems were not discovered till the original sections had been removed and we were committed.  I must say while very frustrated, Steve, was wonderful of sticking it out and finding the solution.  It took allot of extra work, time and imagination but he was able to complete the job to our satisfaction.
Steve was great to work with, with each new problem he stayed calm and pleasant. He always presented several options for me to choose from.

"I reached out to Oasis fencing through email and was contacted immediately. We were able to set up a time for a free quote. After that my decision was made to go with this company. The customer service alone gave me peace of mind. We set a date to begin our fence. The entire fence is completed and looks amazing in just 2.5 days. My pups are outside enjoying the yard. If you need a fence Jason with Oasis Fencing is the best in my opinion. I cannot say enough good things about them."

"What can I say about this guy, Lee, and his right hand man, Jason?!  Two real pros!  Having done carpentry, woodworking, plumbing, and electrical for the past 45 years. I became disabled in the mid '90's up until 2 years ago, when I got my new knee.  During all those years, I had to rely on calling someone from the phone book to do the jobs I normally would have done myself.  After watching some of these "experts" do their jobs, two destroyed ceilings and a botched fence job, I ended up letting every necessary repair go.
I decided to give Angie's List a try when my wife, of 40 years, just couldn't stand her sagging kitchen floor any longer.  I found Dimmetts Home Repair Service, and gave them a call.  Lee told me when he would come to give an estimate; he was there when he said he would be!  I accepted the estimate and Lee told me when he could start the job; again, he was there, bright and early, when he said he would be!
Day One:  Lee and Jason arrived and began tearing out the entire old floor while my wife and I drank coffee and watched the news.  Before I knew it, I walked to the kitchen and found myself staring into my crawlspace.  With Jason cutting, and both installing, the 4 x 8' sheets of osb began going down quickly.  Probably not as quickly as it could have, had I not been bothering the guys with my constant talking about carpentry, good jobs, bad jobs, etc.  At about the 5:00 hour, the sub-floor was installed; not nailed, but glued and screwed down, like it should be.  All debris was cleaned up, loaded in Lee's truck, ready to be hauled off.  Except for the raw osb floor, you would never know these guys had been here!
Day Two:  Again, 7:30 ish AM, (not 12 noon or 1:00 PM like my previous ordeals) the guys arrive and begin laying the 30 lb. felt moisture barrier and quickly move on to the 16 boxes of the Pergo flooring.  I've got to admit, this is one job I have no experience with.  And, looking at all of those individual planks, I thought this was going to be a long, tedious ordeal.  But, once again, with Jason doing all the precise cutting and Lee locking them all together, the entire job seemed to fly by!  Around 5:00 Lee called me to the kitchen to view the nice, new, and most importantly, FLAT AND LEVEL new wood floor.  All scrap was cleaned up, both inside and out, and all dust was vacuumed off new floor.  By 5:00 PM the guys were gone.  A very pleasant transaction!
Lee and Jason are true professionals and all around great guys; nice to talk with, great personalities, and very easy to get along with. They will do it the way you want it done.  I had absolutely zero complaints; even minor!  And for me, that's unusual, being that my wife knows me as an extreme perfectionist.
My estimate was $1215.00
My bill was $1065.00
Only thing left to say..................Hire Lee for any home repairs you might need done.  I think you'll be very pleased

"They did a good job. Nothing stood out except that the first time they came out and worked with the fence post, it wasn't right. They came back and reset everything this time. It was really good job. Instead of trying to patch it, they took it up and replaced it. We were happy with the post. When they say they would come, they showed up."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Painting or staining protects fences from environmental damage, enhances durability, and improves curb appeal with a fresh, customized look.

Removing fence posts that are set in concrete is something you can't do by hand. You will need an excavator, a strong post-puller, or a jackhammer. If you plan on recycling the concrete base, you may be able to cut the post out with a jackhammer and then set the new post in the existing base. However, it's usually better to remove both the fence post and concrete together. Due to the weight of concrete, you will need a hydraulic removal tool.

How long a fence lasts, including a split rail fence, will depend on the material from which it’s made. The average lifespan of a wood fence is about 15 to 20 years. However, split rail fences made out of premium materials, like composite, vinyl, steel, or aluminum, can last for 25 to 30 years or more, especially if you take good care of the material and carry out necessary maintenance.

Yes, fence posts need to be installed below the frost line to ensure stability and prevent heaving caused by freezing and thawing cycles. The frost line is the depth at which soil freezes during winter. By placing posts below this line, often around 3 to 4 feet deep or as recommended for your specific region, you reduce the risk of the ground shifting, which can lead to leaning or unstable fences. Adequate depth provides better anchoring and helps maintain the fence's integrity, ensuring it remains secure and upright throughout changing seasons.

The ideal spacing for four-by-four residential fence posts is usually about 6 to 8 feet between posts. However, if the fence is particularly high or you live in a very windy region, you might want to space them closer together for better stability. A fence pro can help you decide on your post spacing.
