"The tech complained a lot about having to get in my attic. I had some Christmas stores up there and it was in his way. I could hear him huffing about it all the way downstairs. They complained about whoever installed the Nest unit, mocking them. The installer happened to be me, which is why I called them to fix it. I already knew it was wrong. I didn t need them to confirm that fact. Also, they tracked mud all over my house. Just put some booties on fellas. I appreciate them getting me up and running but the customer service was really bad."

"The tech showed up on time in a clean uniform and wore shoe covers to keep my floors clean. He installed a backlight to prevent mold from building up on my unit. I highly recommend Ref Con!"

I am a small business out of Estill county KY we try to offer low prices with quality work. I don’t have a ton of overhead so I can usually beat big name companies. The help I use are all family members.

"Joshua and team were so pleasant to work for. Where do I even start. From consultation to finished projects, Josh was very communicative and knowledgeable. I'm a recently new homeowner and have many questions and Honey-do tasks. Josh helped wittle my list down some. Firstly, I had a huge pine tree that came down during high winds and had crushed my fence. It left a huge stump on my yard. Josh used his excavator to remove the stump, carry all of the downed limbs to my burn pile, and made the yard look like a yard again. When then started looking at other multiple projects. He mentioned to me about fixing my bumpy yard for a future project. He is helping fix my broken chain link fence. Offered me some tree service ideas. Helped me hang some tvs including one outside on my patio. He gave me great ideas for landscaping my pool and then delivered some mulch and made my backyard to stay looking pretty. All of his staff and family were plesant to work for. He even recommended another certified Angi pro to help open my pool. Overall, the experience was great and I will not hesitate to hire him when I am ready to tackle on other projects. Thank you Joshua for making my first experience with an Angi pro a memorable one. Will be calling you soon."

Nest Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, mulch can attract pests. Spiders, centipedes, and ants are some common pests that are attracted to mulch. You can avoid infestation by laying your bags of mulch in the heat for a few hours or by using an inorganic mulch, as it’s less attractive to pests.

It is a myth that smashing a stink bug attracts more stink bugs. According to the National Pesticide Information Center, killing a stink bug will not attract more of them. They are able to secrete a pheromone that attracts other bugs, but they will only release their alarm pheromone when they’re squished—which won’t attract more bugs.

The cost to hire a pest control specialist varies depending on the type of infestation. For example, the cost to exterminate spiders averages from $100 to $300. Other pest control costs include:

  • Ants: $100–$500

  • Bed bugs: $350–$5,000

  • Cockroaches: $100–$600

  • Fleas: $150–$400

  • Rodents: $180–$600

  • Wasps: $100–$1,300

  • Mosquitos: $70–$500

  • Bats: $230–$700

  • Beehives: $75–$1,500

  • Termites: $230–$2,500

  • Snakes: $130–$600

  • Armadillos: $50–$500

Professional wasp removal methods vary depending on the wasp species, nest location, and the severity of the infestation. Professionals use a range of techniques, including high-grade insecticides, pesticides, aerosols, insecticidal dust, liquids, and vacuuming. After exterminating the wasps, the technician will remove the active nest to prevent re-infestation. For a major or pervasive wasp problem, it is recommended to hire a professional to handle the issue safely and avoid painful stings.

Spiders are most active during the warm spring and summer months. During this time, most spiders emerge from their hiding places to lay eggs and hunt for food. However, each species of spider is different and some are more active than others. Stay vigilant for signs of spiders in your home once the weather begins to warm.
