Hello there! We are a local company specializing in roofing, siding, deck's, privacy fences, exterior painting, and additions. We also bid on commercial projects upon as requested.

"I had my basement finished by Armando and his crew. The first red flag was the "proposal". It wasn't a typical quote. It had a low range and a high range, with no way of knowing exactly what the final cost would be (the high range estimate of $15-16k was actually wound up to be more than $25,000- HUGE difference!). Then, it took a full two months to finish due to promises like, "We'll be there tomorrow", or "We'll finish it up by New Years'", or "We'll be there this weekend", or it might have rained, the truck broke down, or any number of excuses, but rarely did I get a call saying, "We won't be there after all". I can't count the number of times I rearranged my day or weekend only to have no one show up at all. The customer service was horrendous. So was the spin-doctoring. So, was the work done well? Well, yes- despite the excuses, I'm thrilled with most of the work. It's the last thing that was the final straw. I had two barn doors installed between the mud room and the basement entertainment area. Love the doors, hate the way they were installed. The crew screwed two boards as a guide which looked horrible, and one of the (new) doors was warped toward the bottom and when they were closed, there was a significant gap between the two at the bottom. This was spin-doctored to me as my floor isn't level. That may be, but the door is also warped, but okay. Then maybe take this into consideration or do the right thing and select another door? After paying him the remainder, I asked him to come back and fix the issue. I ordered two doors with 5 sets of metal guides so the strips of wood (a trip hazard, as they run more than the entire width of the opening) could be removed. Armando said he would pick them up and be here the following weekend. Never showed. Of course. A two man crew arrived the following Thursday with the doors and the guide. They took one door out and decided they couldn't cut them down because I had chosen a style with glass panels. My ceilings in the basement are less than 84", so they needed to be trimmed down. As with a few other things, we suspect they just didn't want to do it, as my son-in-law explained to them how it could be done. They were here for about 8 hours (I was told it would be one hour, but okay). They seemed to have problems figuring out how to use the guides effectively. The head crewman told me it was because not only was my floor slightly sloped, but one of the doors was warped (as I had told them over and over). So they decided on another tack. They left for several hours and when I went downstairs, there they were with a plank of wood. I had no idea they were going to cut it larger than the existing wood strip! smh So now the issue is even bigger, even worse than before. Problem 1- for some inexplicable reason, they chose red oak for the new strips and what might as well have been a red stain. My floors are a rustic mix of light/dark grays and browns with some cream. Awesome floor. I was told the color would tone down when it dried. Nope. Never happened. The strips are red. They'll stay red unless they're sanded down and re-stained (or removed and something else properly installed). What were they thinking??? Problem 2- instead of filling all the screw holes in the flooring (the previous screws were drilled into concrete like the new ones) with a matching putty, there are putty colored holes all over the floor between these two strips of wood. This will necessitate replacing some flooring. Which I don't have. When the floor was installed, they took away whatever planks were left over. Problem 3- instead of filling the holes in the wood and wiping off the excess putty, it looks like they smeared it on and just slapped stain on top. So now of course I have these hideous areas that look like a child went wild with a paintbrush and Silly Putty. I checked the color of these wood strips every day waiting for the miracle that was supposed to occur where the red stain would magically lighten up and somehow those crazy putty spots would darken. Never happened. It's red. Some areas are shiny, some are light, but the color is red. Will I go back to Armando yet again? Nope. Never again. I'd rather have back to back colonoscopies every day for a month. Between the excuses, the spin-doctoring, the no-shows and the inability to correct their mistakes properly, I don't know how the company stays in business."

Architects questions, answered by experts

In most cases, you should get an architect before you hire a builder. An architect will be the one to draw up formal plans for your project, including guidelines and even material lists for your builder to follow during construction. Many architects can even help you find builders, choose one for your project, and negotiate prices. Some are also willing to act as project managers throughout the process, working closely with a builder from start to finish.

Building a house without blueprints is not advised. It will prevent you from obtaining necessary building permits and meeting building codes and is likely to result in shoddy construction and unsafe living conditions. Detailed blueprints ensure that a house is built to exact specifications and is constructed safely and structurally stable.

Yes, designers collaborate with contractors and engineers to ensure a smooth construction process.

An architect ensures compliance with building codes, maximizes space efficiency, enhances functionality, and integrates energy-efficient solutions. Their expertise can also improve workflow and customer experience.

Yes, architects specialize in both new construction and renovation projects, ensuring that additions blend seamlessly with existing structures while meeting safety standards.
