"This member was easy to work with. We wish him luck on his project. The member and I must have had some miscommunication as I understood he would get back to me to inform me of any desired changes/revisions after the second meeting during which I presented the design. There is truth in the work load issue as our company was placed back in rotation for the Angie's List Big Deal program after we had stated not to do so without checking with us. I believe this was an honest oversight on the part of Angie's List which they moved relatively quickly to correct (took four days as this happened over the Independence Day holiday). In that four days we received information on eight deals at a time when we already had a backlog of design and estimating work."
WoW! I am so glad I finally decided to do this project and chose Adams Construction to do the work. This was a large project but made my home so much more functional for my family and entertaining in the new, larger space. I met Thad Adams and Brandy at a home remodeling show. We obtained several estimates for the job and this company provided professional, sound advice and a very competitive estimate. I was very nervous about removing a load-bearing wall in my home. Every contractor gave us different opinions about how it should be done and VERY different estimates for that level of work. I chose Adams because of my level of trust with their suggestions, their very reasonable estimate and their responsiveness regarding all my concerns about the project.
I cannot say enough about their high level of service, honesty, professionalism and results. Every person we dealt with, from the project manager Brandy, the people doing the actual work, and the owner Thad himself, was responsive, friendly and respectful of our time and our wishes. The project ran over the estimated time by only 1 week, which was much better than I had anticipated. There were no major "kinks" but the couple of things I wanted changed were dealt with quickly and to my satisfaction. I requested a few project additions during the work and was quoted and charged a very fair price. Brandy kept me informed daily of the work schedule, and the gentlemen doing the majority of work in my home (Jeff and Marty) did a wonderful job, were efficient and cleaned up nicely each day.
I would recommend this company for any type of remodeling project and will use them again in the future as soon as my husband lets me remodel something else :)
Thanks guys for making my home so much more enjoyable for our families! Your work was greatly appreciated.
"We did provide a scaled drawing/design for a deck project for this member as part of the Angie's List Big Deal promotion. We understand the cost for this is $49 paid through Angie's List and our company did not request or receive any additional compensation so I am uncertain why the stated cost is listed at $400.00. The Big Deal promotion calls for a design and does not mention anything about a lumber list. A design typically does not include a lumber list as the builder and supplier of any project are ultimately responsible for the structure's code compliance and material suitability for the application. As providing a design through this service does not guarantee that, if built, the project would be built by us we do not provide a lumber list. At the time that we have a commitment from someone for a project to be built we would then develop a lumber list. The lumber suppliers we use will develop a lumber list off of any plan on a complimentary basis to anyone looking to build a project. We wish this member good luck with his project."
They also were able to work within a very small time period. They met the deadline, and I didn't think there was anyway that they could do it.
We were blown away with the quality of the work and the transformation to the room. Top notch all the way around. Thad is very easy to work with and has great ideas. Communication with Adams is also A+.
We contacted Adams again for our roof (March 2014). Again, Thad came to the house to show us samples and offer suggestions for shingles that would best match our siding. For around $6700, we have a beautiful roof, new j-channels, drip strip, etc. The gentlemen working on the roof were kind and polite. With dogs, we were concerned about having roofing nails in the yard. The roofers took to utmost care in cleaning around the house to ensure there were no nails. What's more? The roofers left the yard, driveway, and sidewalks far cleaner than they were the day they started.
Thanks to Thad and Adams Construction, we have added value to our house and have the peace of mind that the work was completed thoroughly. We will contact Adams any time we have a major project on the home.
A little slow on starting, then tried to start when we were gone for a week. Had to stop them till we came back home. Had a few other small problems, but they worked them out.
Very professional job and the deck looks great.
Will use them again.
From the first day of construction we felt that things were going to be OK. The people from Adams Construction were prompt, courteous and caring. My wife and I felt that they wanted us to know that they would do the job right and the way we wanted it done. Like I said , they kept the construction site clean and respected that this was our home and we love it.
So thanks Thad and Tony and Marty and Shane and everybody. You have made a frightful situation turn out all right.
P.S. I'm getting another estimate on a little more remodeling from Adams now. I will be recommending them to any and all who ask. Joe and Gwen Mathers
"We are happy for the final outcome with the customer’s basement bathroom. As the customer indicated remodeling always presents some challenges as each owner and home is different. We do have a process and project management software that we use to assist in giving our homeowners the best possible remodeling experience. As with all processes, there is always room for improvement and education of our team and we pursue this at every opportunity. We had a good experience in working with the Martins and appreciate their patience as a flooring issue did create a delay for the completion of the project. We often discuss with owners how the relatively short amount of time invested in a remodeling project (even with some delays) pales in comparison to a quality final product that can provide years and sometimes decades of future use and enjoyment. We wish the Martins the best of luck and enjoyment with the use of the additional bathroom. Thad Adams CGR, CGP, CAPS President Adams Construction Services, Inc."
The owner came and quoted the job and delivered the estimate 2 weeks later. Though we had 3 companies give us quotes Adams was the most thorough. Though they were the highest priced, the price was still what I was expecting to pay. They began the job 3 weeks after we deposited the first half of the total. It took 3.5 days across a weekend to complete the deck, and walk-through was completed a week later. Though the workmen looked rough they were very polite and professional to us and our neighbors. They even cleaned the site every evening so our dogs could go out an check on progress. ;) Another 4 hours completed details corrected during the walk through, and we couldn't be happier.
We absolutely love our new deck.A contract was drawn up and after exchange of several emails and visits to office it was settled and deposit applied.
Price appeared to be about 5% higher than competitors but accepted contract hopping for a turnkey job.
Schedule set up on a flow sheet to work around my schedule so I could be present during the work.
After job completed I would have to say that I am not happy with Mr. Adams choice of tile sub-contractor, due to tiles not flush with each other on floor and walls and plumbing fixtures for shower were not installed in center of shower wall, so the tile had to be torn out and fixtures moved, then re-tiled, so now we are stuck with it.
After shower base warms up from hot water, it pops when moving around in shower, therefore again the tile contractors did not
install base correctly, so now we are stuck with it.
Mr. Adams never sent me a critique sheet or satisfaction survey to see what could have been done better.
I would suggest a thorough check of sub-contractors be accomplished before proceeding with any work.
