"I couldn't be more happy with the service provided by All Service Moving. The two men who moved my furniture were prompt, courteous, and very careful wrapping and installing my possessions in the truck. At my new home they made sure to put the items where I needed them. As for COVID-19, they were well prepared to protect themselves, me, and the contractors they encountered at my new home."

"Chad and Sy did a wonderful job helping me move all my stuff. They handled everything with care. And they were really patient with moving my stacked full-size washer and dryer given the cramped spaces of the apartments!! I definitely would seek them out again next time I move!"

Moving questions, answered by experts

When planning an out-of-state move, you should aim to save enough money to cover at least two to three months of living expenses, including rent, food, utilities, and transportation. Ideally, saving for six months or more is best, especially if you don't have a job lined up. You also need to budget for the transition costs, such as a moving vehicle rental, hiring movers, and packing materials. Cross-country moves typically cost between $2,400 and $6,860. You can calculate your estimated moving costs in advance based on factors like distance, weight, and the number of bedrooms.

Full-service movers provide all the necessary packing supplies and materials—saving you time and money. In addition, long-distance moving companies have special blankets and padding to move heavy, bulky items. Full-service movers will pack and unpack your belongings quickly and safely and dispose of all the packing materials, including recycling cardboard boxes.

Yes, many office moving costs are tax deductible, but only businesses are eligible to deduct moving expenses on their taxes. Personal moves, such as relocating for a new job or moving from an apartment to a house, are not deductible.

However, not all business taxes are deductible by that business. Deductible business moving expenses are limited to the direct costs associated with relocating office supplies and equipment. This process encompasses brokerage fees for securing a new location, space surveys, packing, loading, transportation, and unpacking. Costs related to moving employees or other indirect expenses are not eligible for tax deductions.

The best way to move a 3-bedroom house long distance depends on your budget. Hiring a full-service moving company works best if you have a higher budget. If you’re on a tighter budget, renting a moving van and doing everything yourself is your best bet. Other options include renting a storage container, pod, or freight container. You can also ship your belongings if you don’t have many items.

Planning ahead is essential—this will give you the chance to coordinate your move during weekends or after business hours, and set up essential services in your new office before moving day to minimize downtime. Start by creating a detailed timeline and checklist for every phase of the move, from packing to unpacking. Inform your employees, clients, and vendors about the move well in advance, including any expected disruptions and how you plan to manage them. Delegate responsibilities to ensure all aspects of the move are covered. Lastly, set up the essentials at the new location first to resume operations quickly.
