"I want to express my sincere gratitude to Easton Roofing, especially, AJ Lawrence, for the outstanding personalized service he provided solving & repairing my roof leak. Even though this wasn?t their responsibility, they took ownership and reached out to me and resolved the problem. It?s rare to find someone so willing to step outside their lane to help others.I truly appreciate their dedication to getting this rectified for me. EASTON ROOFING is a company that is not just about short-term gains, but long term satisfaction & retention of their clients. They truly stand behind their business message of ?INTEGRITY MATTERS?. It?s always a great feeling when someone goes above and beyond. Taking ownership is a powerful trait in professional settings. THANK YOU to AJ LAWRENCE!!"

"These pros came out and repaired a roofing job that was done by a someone else...But anyway they did not try to over sell what needed to be done. They corrected what needed to be done and for a small price!! And said any more issues just to call...WOW Thank You!! If this company was hired to install the roof it would have been done right the first time. Thank You A+ Company!!"

"I highly recommend Mo-Kan Home Improvement. When my roof started leaking in multiple places after a hailstorm this past spring, and during a pouring rain, I had no idea what to do or whom to call. A friend whose husband is a builder recommended Jeff at Mo-Kan. He actually sent a crew out in a thunderstorm to put a tarp on my roof! When my insurance company refused to cover the damage, Jeff actually got involved to help by offering photos as proof of the roof damage. The insurance company never did cover this, and the ordeal went on for a while, because I had extensive communication with my soon-to-be-former company. In the end, when I realized I would have to pay for it myself, Jeff offered me an extremely fair price, and I couldnâ t be happier with the new roof! Throughout the entire process, Jeff stayed in touch and when the house leaked again, he sent a crew out to add another tarp. When a windstorm blew the tarp off, his crew came out again and replaced it. Every single time there was business concerning the project, Jeff and his crew were here exactly when they said theyâ d be, and everyone was extremely nice. After installing the new roof, they left my driveway and porch way cleaner than before the project began. I canâ t say enough nice things about this great company!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

The best type of roof vent depends on the size, type, and construction of your roof as well as the environmental conditions in and around your home. In many cases, an active ventilation system that draws in fresh air and exhausts air out through the attic is the most effective. Active ventilation systems include roof ridge vents with baffles, turbine vents, and soffit vents that are used together with another type of vent.

An insulated garage benefits from roof vents to ensure proper ventilation and prevent moisture buildup. Insulation can trap moisture in the garage, especially during temperature fluctuations, and roof vents play a crucial role in expelling the moisture in the air. Including roof vents promotes air circulation, preventing condensation and enhancing overall air quality.

The proper specifications for furring strips can vary, so you should always consult the roofing manufacturer's guidelines or your roofer. However, general recommendations are as follows:

  • Thickness: Furring strips are typically 1 to 1-1/2 inches thick, meaning standard 1-by or 2-by lumber works well. In areas with extreme winds, a thinner strip may be preferred to limit how much air can get under the roof and cause uplift. A thicker strip can add slightly more insulation but will also increase installation costs.

  • Spacing: The recommended spacing for furring strips is between 12 and 24 inches apart on center. Proper spacing is crucial for ensuring good airflow, adequate drainage, noise reduction, and better energy efficiency. The ideal spacing can depend on the roof's pitch and the specific type of metal roofing being installed.

If your roof has storm damage, there will be some telltale signs. These include missing, loose, or damaged shingles. You may notice cracks or dents on the metal parts of your roof, like flashing, gutters, or metal panels. Water leaks are another big indicator. So are visible signs of impact. Rather than climb up on your roof to check, hire a professional to inspect the area  safely.

The least suitable roof for solar panels is a wood shake roof. An electrical mishap with your solar panels could start a fire on the roof, so some areas don’t allow solar panels on wood roofs. You don’t have to let a wood roof stop you from going solar. You can replace your wood shakes with shingles. Installing the panels on the ground is another option.
