"They arrived on time, did the job and cleaned up all the tree branches and leaves, taking them with them. The company owner was a little over anxious in wanting to increase the amount of work they were preforming to get more money for the day. The only real issue was the owner came and went and a limb was dropped on one of my fences, but there was little damage. I would suggest that his employees pick up after themselves, I picked up four water bottles and a big gulp cup scattered around my yard. I recommended this company to my neighbor who also had some work done."

You can only overlay a roof once. Any additional layers of shingles will add too much weight and may also violate building codes. Once your roof has had an overlay, you’ll need to have a full roof replacement, including a tear-off of all existing roofing materials, when it’s time for a new roof. 

Metal roofs have a reputation for being noisy, but with proper installation and adequate insulation, they are not significantly noisier than shingle roofs. The type of metal used can affect the sound level; for instance, steel roofs are typically noisier than slate or asphalt tiles but quieter than aluminum. While some people find the sound of rain on a metal roof pleasant, you can take steps to reduce the noise. Installing a thicker underlayment, adding insulation between the roof and the house, or using acoustic tiles can effectively muffle the sound. The gauge (thickness) of the metal roofing can also contribute to sound dampening.

While you technically can add a roof over shakes or shingles, it’s not a good idea. Roofing over existing roofing creates a moisture barrier underneath the new roof and since the trapped material is wood, you can expect a moisture problem. While you could get away with installing a new roof over asphalt or steel, wooden roofs should be removed, new underlayment installed, and the new roof installed over that. Also, the extra weight would add strain to your roof structure.

There should be small gaps between your roof and the walls of your home, and other buildings. These small gaps let building materials shift, expand, and contract with weather and other outside forces, and they prevent moisture from wicking down walls from roofing and gutter systems. Without these strategic gaps, your home’s exterior and its finishes can sustain water damage, decay, peel, delaminate, and crack. However, there is a fine line between a smart gap and a problematic gap—all  gaps should be small, intentional, and covered or filled in with foam insulation to prevent pests from using them as access points.
