"It was a pleasure to have Tim, Jesse and Calvin build a fence on my property. Tim owns the company-Stranger Creek Fence. They were dedicated and helpful throughout the process. Tim designed the fence and it was built in a stair-step manner along with other angular designs. It was a beautiful design. They worked almost non-stop in the heat and I suggested to them that they stop and hydrate. I guess since they are young men they can work for hours without a break. I was impressed with their work ethic. Tim took the time to talk to me about various ideas and how to solve minor problems along the way. They first had to clear some wild overgrown bushes and then prepare the ground. Then, they had to cement in the posts in their exact positions before building the fence. They cut the wood to various sizes and placed the wood between the posts in an artistic manner. I was impressed with their go-getter attitude, their helpfulness and kindness. Also, on top of the heat and some mud, Tim and his crew had to deal with a difficult neighbor next door and they did this in a highly ethical and professional manner. Thank you, Tim, Jesse and Calvin for doing a terrific job on my new cedar fence. I am thrilled with it! Mary Lou Pagano"

"We love our new fence, it looks awesome! Rob and his crew did a great job! I would recommend him to anyone needing a fence. We have a big yard but they tore out the old fence and had the new privacy fence done in 2 days. We went with the pre stained cedar and it was even better than we expected."

"Shannon and his crew (Morgan) did an excellent job. He provided an estimate for the job in advance, listed to what we wanted to have done, made suggestions about the best way to deal with the project, completed the work promptly, was very professional, and they were super easy to deal with. The final price for the job was reasonable, especially considering the quality of the work. The fence and gate look wonderful!! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would definitely do so. I highly recommend Precision Fence, Rail, And Signs Inc. to anyone who wants a beautiful, high-quality fence."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Goats need at least 250 square feet of space each, but that’s if you’re also supplementing hay. Since goats are social animals, you’ll want to avoid renting only one goat, which would take a long time to clear your land, anyway. Instead, opt for at least two goats per 500 square feet of land. Most rental companies will only rent out goats by the acre, but check your local goat rental companies to see if they make exceptions.

The legal implications of installing barbed wire fencing will vary from city to city. You should check your local regulations to see if barbed wire fencing is allowed, and what restrictions exist. For instance, some municipalities might require that your fence be a certain height and a certain distance from your home.

Yes, in many cases, homeowners insurance covers the cost to repair or replace a fence. Home insurance policies typically protect your home and other structures on your property, which often includes fences. If the fence is damaged by a covered event, such as a storm, fire, or vandalism, your insurer may cover some or all of the cost. However, coverage does not extend to damage caused by natural wear and tear, owner negligence, insufficient maintenance, or improper installation.

A high-quality wrought iron fence is one of the most durable options available and can last a lifetime, or even centuries, with proper care. However, wrought iron is susceptible to rust and corrosion if not maintained.

To maximize its lifespan, regular maintenance is required. This includes:

  • Cleaning the fence with soapy water every six months.

  • Scrubbing away any rust or corrosion as soon as it appears.

  • Applying a new coat of paint or refinishing the fence every few years to protect the metal from moisture and oxygen. The recommended frequency varies, with sources suggesting anywhere from every 1 to 10 years.

If significant rust develops, it's wise to hire a professional fence repair company to clean the rust and reseal the fence. The cost to refinish a fence is typically between $5 and $12 per square foot, a worthwhile investment to ensure its longevity.

The ideal distance between fence posts depends on several factors, including the terrain, the purpose of the fence, and the material used. For different types of fences, here are some general guidelines:

  • Wood and Metal Fences: Posts should be spaced between 5 and 8 feet apart.

  • Vinyl Fences: Spacing can be between 6 and 8 feet.

  • Chain-Link, Mesh, or Lattice Fences: Posts can be set anywhere from 4 to 25 feet apart, with 4-10 feet being common for chain-link.

  • Wire Fences: Spacing can be up to 12 feet apart.
