"Service was very professional from Angel and Luis. Got the AC unit tuned up and checked it. Cleaned the ac unit and it needed to be leveled out got it all leveled out in no time. "Everest heating and cooling is my new go to hvac company!! My air unit went out Friday night around 10pm. I called multiple companies and they either wanted a small fortune or wouldn’t come out at all. I called Everest and talked to there hvac manager ray and he agreed to help us out not only did he come out immediately but he had my air conditioner up and going in a matter of minutes. A calculation method that your HVAC contractor will use to ensure your system does what it's supposed to is measuring duct output, or its CFM. The calculation requires knowing the cross-sectional area of the ductwork and determining the air speed past any given point within it.

Ideally, an AC system should never need more Freon (a popular refrigerant) because it circulates in a closed loop. For washable or electrostatic air conditioner filters, you can soak and rinse them with water. If you rinse the filter with water, make sure to use a faucet, shower head, or garden hose with a gentle water pressure setting, as strong water pressure could damage the filter.

But for disposable filters, water could ruin the filter, even allowing mold to grow in the filter. Instead, these filters should be replaced.

You should plan to change your AC unit's filter every one to three months, depending on the manufacturer's recommendations. You should also clean the coils at least once per year, but if you have pets or someone in your household has allergies, you might need to clean them more often. Fortunately, many pros will clean the coils and change the filter for you during an inspection, which you should schedule once or twice per year.

One of the fastest ways to unfreeze an AC unit is to turn off the unit and, if it’s warm outside, use the fan-only mode to help blow warmer air through the unit to speed up the defrosting process. While it may be tempting to use a hair dryer to defrost the air conditioner, that high heat can damage the coils.

After defrosting, if you can safely solve the issue with a fix like changing the filter, go ahead and do so. Otherwise, call in a pro before turning your AC back on.
