"Landis did an awesome job on a complicated project we had replacing knob and tube wiring in our house. Their team was clearly knowledgeable about the project, provided great advice, did it in a timely fashion with minimal damage done to our walls. They also were very reasonable priced compared to other bids we received. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing electrical work done."

"John did a great job!  He removed a wall that was in the bathroom and re-plastered the wall.  In addition, he tore out the old carpet and cheap tile floors and put in my new slate tile floors along with the sealing of the tiles.  Also, the bathtub and shower was replaced and he put slate on the wall of the bathtub.....also, he changed all of the fixtures in the bathroom and re-routed the air duct from where the wall was removed to just come in from the ceiling.  Also, the electric switches were moved from the wall that was removed to the remaining wall.
They just did a great job...it looks really good and I think I got a really good job for the money that I payed for it.    I received 3-4 bids on the project and they were the most reasonable....  overall, Great Job!
Andy

Electrical questions, answered by experts

The number of outdoor outlets that can be on one circuit depends on the circuit's capacity and the electrical load of each outlet. Outdoor outlets should ideally be on a dedicated circuit that is not shared with other outlets, and each outlet should be rated for at least 15 amps. A circuit rated for at least 20 amps is recommended. It’s important to use GFCI protection for all outdoor outlets to prevent electrical shocks. Overall, it's crucial to avoid overloading the circuit and take necessary safety precautions.

Yes, most electric and automatic gates can be opened manually. They are equipped with a manual override or release mechanism that detaches the motor from the gate, allowing it to be moved by hand. This feature is essential during power outages or other emergencies.

To activate the manual override, you will typically need a specific key or tool. In some cases, you may also need a screwdriver to remove a cover to access the release mechanism. The use of a key is a common security measure to prevent unauthorized individuals from manually opening the gate.

Because every model is different, it is highly recommended to consult your gate's user manual to familiarize yourself with the specific procedure before you need to use it. Keep any necessary keys or tools in an accessible location. Be aware that automatic gates can be very heavy, so opening and closing them manually may be difficult.

In North America, electric gates are also subject to the UL 325 Standard for Safety, which includes provisions to allow emergency responders to access the property.

Yes, many professionals offer wiring upgrades as part of their services, including upgrades to support VoIP, fiber optic, or high-speed internet connections. It is recommended to confirm the specifics with your contractor.

You should never unplug or touch a buzzing outlet. If there are appliances plugged in that are causing the buzzing, wait until the appliance is turned off (or turn it off yourself) and then unplug it from the outlet. Test the outlet by plugging in something that won’t use much power—a small lamp works well. If the outlet still buzzes, have a pro investigate why.

Three-way switches are only replaceable with three-way switches. A single-pole switch won't work if you replace one or more of a pair of three-way switches. By electrical code, three-way switch configurations are necessary at the top and bottom of a staircase between residential floors.
