"I have a contract for regular service through Smith IPM for pest management for the past few years. Jeromy and his team continue to amaze me. The whole team is knowledgeable, courteous, flexible, on-time, and responsive. For almost the whole time that I have been their customer, I have only had a small wasp issue in the eaves of my house, which was promptly taken care of within 24 hours of my notifying Smith IPM. When the weather started to get cold, I have seen a few spiders, and the most recent visit, Smith IPM made sure to address any areas that needed a little extra management. Brody even tried to help me with my spider mite problem that came with a plant someone sent to me."

"100% would recommend Mica from Plunkett’s to deal with your cockroach issues. We had roaches off and on for many months, despite a good cleaning regime etc., and eventually realized other units in our shared building had the same issues. Mica quickly and precisely diagnosed the source of the issue, was real with us about time and possible costs, worked with us in coordinating multiple units, patiently answered all questions, and in the end helped my neighbors and I deal with this extremely persistent issue in a relatively short time frame. He approached treatment with a lot of care and thought, in particular listening and adjusting for our concerns re: safety of our young toddler. This was a big one for us! Plunkett’s was a bit more expensive than some other pest control companies we looked at, but neighbors had already tried multiple other services and it never got rid of the issue. In the end, it was probably cheaper than multiple ineffective treatments, but more importantly we haven’t seen a roach in several months."

Although it takes time and possibly multiple treatments, roaches can be eradicated from your home. However, they can return if the conditions are right. That’s why taking the steps to prevent an infestation is key. You may also want to discuss preventative pest control treatments with your exterminator. Male carpenter bees actually don't have a stinger, but they will hover around areas as a defense mechanism to deter intruders. However, females can sting but are not typically aggressive and tend to only sting when threatened or provoked. They are less active at night, so you are less likely to encounter them because they tend to rest at night.

Unlike for rats and mice, poisonous baits and fumigants aren’t a legal option for dealing with squirrel invasions. So, don’t set any traps up using standard rodenticides. Remember that you typically need a permit for trapping and relocating squirrels found on your property. Some states even specify the types of traps you need to use.

Skunks spray as a defense mechanism to ward off predators. The active ingredient in their sulfurous, oily musk is n-butyl mercaptan, which evaporates into a powerful and smelly gas. Once the spray hits the skunk’s target, the stench can linger for days, and water and common cleaning kits aren’t enough to wash it away.

If you happen upon a skunk in your yard, try to back away slowly to reduce the chance of them aiming at you.
