Fortified Buildings LLC is a full service general contractor. We build custom homes, garages, warehouses, and barns or agricultural buildings. We are different from other general contractors because we listen to what it is about your project that is motivating you to do it. Knowing your motive is the best understanding a general contractor can have in the relationship. We are a certified Sunward Steel Buildings dealer so rest assured we can have the building you want and need designed to your exact requirements.

"Levi was very responsive, polite, and professional. The shed/storage building looks great. I highly recommend Levi."

"Since I have a dog, it was important tome to get the repairs done quickly. I called the company and they called me back promptly and a time was scheduled to look at the situation. There was a slight delay but he contacted me and was out at the revised scheduled time. He replaced the panel and everything was cleared away. Excellent job. Very efficient. "This is only a limited summary. Buyer, especially seniors, BEWARE! Average product, but very poor installation quality and workmanship. BCI-BathPlanet of Indianapolis arrived an hour late without calling, and no return calls from the office, sales rep., or service manager. They damaged three areas of an adjoining wall into another room using a Sawzall. And, they left without telling me. I had to cleanup the paint and drywall debris. The next day they arrived, and I showed they the damage. They admitted they damaged the wall using the Sawzall. I withheld $500 of my payment. It should have been at least $4,000. They promised the following business day, a Monday, they would have someone call to make the repair that day, but they did not show and did not call. When I called their Customer Service, BCI-BathPlanet would not return my calls total of about 20 times. I had to stop by their office twice but they claimed "there was nothing they could do" to make the service manager return calls. They refused to have the owner call me. Our sales rep. used deceptive sales practices by claiming to be a part-owner. The office told me he was not a part owner. When I visited the office they said I could only talk with the service manager. Shower shelves fell off the walls. Caulking was very poor. After almost three months they finally attempted to make some initial repairs. So.e were satisfactory, but others were so bad I had them remove parts of the decorative trim because they said "it was the best they could do"."

"Awful - Worst decision of my life. Unskilled labor, sloppy. His workers left food & trash all over. House got full of flies. They lost my house key and blamed me, the customer. An estimate of 4-6 weeks turned into 4 months. We finally just fired him to get him out of our house. They damaged counter tops, dented and scratched appliances. Refused to take responsibility for it, except for one major obvious deep cut in my counter he couldn't deny. Left me broken hearted and I feel I can't trust anybody anymore. I should never have trusted the first person to quote the job. (That was my fault.) Should have known from the start when he was over an hour late to the initial appointment. The painter painted over a smoke detector on the upstairs wall (who does that!?) & got paint all over. Didn't fix the wall surfaces or prep them like he had said he would. I think he started out wanting to do a quality job but he bit off more than he could chew. I don't think he's a bad person, just a very bad business person. I could write a book on all the crap that went on. Crew was there only a couple hours a day most days when somebody showed up. Neighbors kept me apprised of activities. They spent lots of time outside smoking instead of working. Left a bucket full of stinky cig. butts by the front door for months. One Sat. morning during the summer I went into the house and the thermostat had been put on 50. The house was freezing! He blamed the thermostat malfunctioning. Grout work is sloppy and full of cracks in the master bath. Wall tile where the wood stove goes is seriously crooked in the kitchen. Flooring actually has a thin piece missing in the kitchen just under the molding. Don't know what I will do to fix that. He had the nerve to call my son-in-law a moron to his face when we fired him. Very unreliable, undependable, & unprofessional. Should have taken legal action but I just couldn't continue with the grief any longer. I wanted it over. I felt so hurt and so victimized. We heard he thought we would take legal action against him. We are slowly trying to fix and improve what was unsatisfactory. So much was left unfinished but we just couldn't take it anymore. Heard he was going to declare bankruptcy and start another business under a different name. I would gladly share his name but not sure if that is appropriate or wise. I've learned to ALWAYS get references and see evidence of previous work. Never take a person's word for anything. Lesson's learned can sometimes be painful, heartbreaking and very expensive as in $35,000. Believe it or not, he had a Preferred rating on Home Advisor and that is why we contacted him and thought he was good. Guess what service we will NEVER use again!"

Sunrooms and Patios questions, answered by experts

Yes, a screened-in porch will increase your property taxes because it has a foundation and is considered a permanent improvement to your land. The exact amount your taxes will go up depends on the value of your existing home, the value added by the screened-in porch, the size of the structure, your location, and more.

If you want to hire a professional to build a screened-in porch, a local sunroom or porch contractor is your best bet. If you can't find a local sunroom builder, another option is to consider hiring a general contractor to perform the work.

If you're handy, you may consider building the porch yourself. Before you do so, make sure you understand the local permit requirements and building codes so that you don't have any problems with the safety or structure of the porch.

Even if your deck is properly constructed with a solid foundation, it doesn’t always mean it can handle the extra weight of a sunroom. Always call in a structural engineer to perform a deck inspection to evaluate the quality and structural integrity of the deck before building. You may need to reinforce the foundations and joists, and with decks in poor condition, it might be better to tear them down and start again. A pro can help you decide.

If you have multiple rooms that could use some organization, home storage solutions like cubbies in your mudroom or built-in shelving can help you move clutter off the floor. Take it one step further by pairing shelves and cabinets with personalized aesthetic touches like woven or canvas lined metal baskets to add another organizational element.

A lanai is a covered patio with open walls, while a Florida room has sides made of mesh screens or windows, with or without partial low walls. In addition, lanais often use concrete or other patio flooring, while Florida rooms may have more indoor-style flooring like tile or wood. Both allow you to enjoy the outdoors without being in the direct sun, but a lanai doesn’t offer any barrier against insects or debris.
