"I hired Rob Heiser to install 7 new light fixtures and a post light on my home's exterior. He also installed a path lighting system and a brush box on the outside of my house to connect outdoor speaker cables to my Sonance system. Rob and his sons did an excellent job and were extremely professional. He performed the job exactly as I asked and did a great job cleaning and organizing all the removed fixtures and trash before they left. I would highly recommend Heiser Electric."

"Mr. Haleem was amazing. Very friendly and knowledgeable. He installed 8 LED Pot lights for me and installed a switch that was previously non existent. He treated my house like his own and cleaned up when he was done. I'd highly recommend him to anyone looking for anything related to electrical work. You will not be disappointed. His prices are VERY competitive. I will be using him 100% of the time going forward."

"Three Phase Electrical was diligent, communicative and tried all solutions. The parts of the work they could finish they did on time and on budget. (The rest required buying a new appliance.) I would call them for other work and recommend them."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

New homeowners in Gary should prioritize a professional assessment of the electrical panel, especially in older neighborhoods. Upgrading to GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms is crucial for safety. Improve grounding to handle local storms, install hardwired smoke detectors, and consider surge protection for electronics. Weatherproofing outdoor outlets is especially important in Gary’s lake-effect climate.

Helpful?

In Gary’s humid climate, failing to run dehumidifiers in basements or letting condensation build up around electrical panels can speed up corrosion. Overloading old circuits with portable heaters or plugging multiple devices into one outlet is risky, especially in homes near the lake. Avoid blocking electrical panels with storage, and regularly clear dust from outlets and breaker boxes to prevent overheating.

Helpful?

If your Gary home is in neighborhoods like Miller Beach or Glen Park and was built before 1960, look for signs like a fuse box, two-prong outlets, or frequent breaker trips. Moisture from Lake Michigan can cause corrosion, especially in basements. Flickering lights, buzzing sounds, or outlets that feel warm are clear indicators your electrical panel or wiring may need an upgrade.

Helpful?

In Gary, create a seasonal inspection routine by checking outdoor outlets and basement wiring each spring for moisture damage from thawing snow. In summer, inspect attic fans and AC connections, especially in older homes. Fall is ideal for testing heating circuits and weatherproofing exterior outlets. During winter, monitor for overloaded heater circuits and ice buildup near service entrances, especially in areas close to Lake Michigan.

Helpful?

After completing electrical work in Gary, schedule a final inspection and keep detailed records, including photos and permits. Test all new outlets and circuits, especially in basements prone to dampness. Update your home insurance to reflect improvements. Over the next few months, watch for issues during seasonal changes, and regularly test GFCI outlets and smoke detectors to ensure ongoing safety in your Gary home.
