"Joe was a great help with our electrical projects. We had several smaller projects that we needed done in our new house. He recommended some ways to simplify our projects, quoted a reasonable cost, and performed great work. He even did a great job cleaning up after finishing. I would highly recommend him for your project!"

"I hired Rob Heiser to install 7 new light fixtures and a post light on my home's exterior. He also installed a path lighting system and a brush box on the outside of my house to connect outdoor speaker cables to my Sonance system. Rob and his sons did an excellent job and were extremely professional. He performed the job exactly as I asked and did a great job cleaning and organizing all the removed fixtures and trash before they left. I would highly recommend Heiser Electric."

"J&M Electric was great! They updated my electric panel box, fixed some light switches, and installed a beautiful chandelier/ceiling fan and new light fixtures outside. The whole team was professional and courteous. The fees for all the work done was fare! I recommend them to anyone needing electrical work done and will use them again when the need arises!"

"I reached out to many companies for information on a whole house generator and Sparkie Electric was the first to contact me. They answered my many questions even before they came out to give me an estimate. After recommending which generator would be the best fit for my house, we set a date for the install. Sparkie Electric arrived on time and worked non-stop. I appreciated their efficient, knowledgeable work ethics. All of the men were courteous, friendly and answered all questions or concerns. I have already recommended Sparkie Electric to several of my friends. Not anxious for another power outage but feel confident that should one happen, my generator will 'save the day"!! Give Sparkie Electric a call today!!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Be cautious if a quote is much lower than others, lacks details about necessary permits, or comes from someone unable to provide Cedar Lake references. If a contractor pressures you to commit immediately, only accepts cash, or offers unclear timelines, consider it a warning sign. Always ensure your electrician understands Cedar Lake’s code requirements and carries current insurance for your protection.

Helpful?

It’s wise to schedule electrical work in Cedar Lake before winter, after major storms, or when renovating. Homes with panels or wiring over 40 years old should be evaluated for safety. Adding large appliances or smart home upgrades is another sign it’s time. If you’re buying, selling, or your insurance company requests updates, consult a local professional to ensure your home meets Cedar Lake standards.

Helpful?

If you notice lights flickering during storms, musty smells near your electrical panel, or outlets that feel warm in your Cedar Lake home, don’t ignore them. Frequent breaker trips, burning odors, or sparking outlets—especially in damp basements—are signs of underlying problems. Addressing these issues early can prevent more extensive electrical repairs and help keep your Cedar Lake home safe.

Helpful?

Relying on extension cords for long-term use or plugging multiple power strips together can overburden older Cedar Lake wiring. Letting basement humidity go unchecked often leads to corrosion at outlets and panels. Frequently running space heaters from the same circuit during cold winters, skipping regular GFCI outlet tests, or attempting DIY fixes without proper knowledge all increase the risk of premature electrical issues in Cedar Lake homes.

Helpful?

In Cedar Lake, main electrical panels in homes built before the 1980s often need upgrades. Basements are especially vulnerable to wiring deterioration due to moisture from the high water table. GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry areas should be checked regularly. Outdoor outlets, attic wiring, and garage circuits are also prone to wear from Indiana’s temperature swings and humidity, requiring periodic inspection.
