"Richard and his crew did an excellent job removing thick weeds around the flower, tree, and bush areas in my front yard. They edged the uneven areas and then spread mulch around my front walk way, trees, and bushes. The front yard looks 100% better. I was surprised by the amount of weeds, dead grass, and debris that they removed in the first couple hours of the project. They came back on day two to spread the mulch. The crew is hardworking and acted very professionally."

"I was having a major problem with spurge grass. It was starting to take over my lawn. After several attempts to to kill it, it still wasnâ  t dying off. After a chat with customer service, Lacey, the production manager with ExperiGreen, got involved, and oh boy, things turned around! Extremely pleased with the customer service I received and would definitely recommend ExperiGreen lawn care!"

"We had a great experience with Scenic Green! Brian was incredibly thorough and took the time to walk us through every step of the backyard grading and grass seeding process. When some areas were slow to grow, he even came back to reseed without hesitation. Excellent communication and top-notch service—highly recommend!"

Small jobs welcome

"I would highly rate this company for the work they did. I had an evasive grass that was taking over 3 sections of my side yard. They dug the grass and dirt down 10-12 inches in the area and 20’X3feet in the flowerbed, took all away, brought good topsoil to fill all spaces. Then laid bluegrass sod! The crew were good workers, cleaned up the street where they loaded old dirt, asked me to see and OK’d each phase, kept me informed of their arrival each day, and finished on our agreed upon time. I felt the quote was reasonable for the work done."

Lawn Care questions, answered by experts

If your grass is stressed from being over-trimmed, try watering it heavily and then allowing it to recover for at least two weeks before mowing again. If you notice brown patches where the grass has died off because it’s too short, you should remove the dead grass and overseed the area. Leaving dead patches can invite weeds and other problems, so if you want a totally green lawn, getting rid of dead patches should include removing the dead sections before reseeding the area.

In most municipalities, lawn care and mowing companies require at least a business license to operate legally. However, requirements can vary by location, and some areas mandate that landscaping companies be licensed, insured, and bonded, or even hold a general contractor license. Before hiring any lawn service, confirm they are fully insured. This protects you from liability for injuries on your property and also protects the company's employees. You can use Angi's state license lookup tool to verify a company's licensing status in your area.

On average, lawn stripes will last about two weeks. This timeline gives you plenty of elbow room to perfect your skills since your designs will always fade if you’re unhappy with the results. For best results and to keep your grass healthy, change the direction of each stripe every two weeks.

Depending on your lawn mower type, you can mow anywhere from 2.5 to 13 miles per hour (mph). A simple push lawn mower will take the longest to mow at 2.5 mph, which is just under the average walking pace. Riding mowers can go significantly faster. Rear engines come in at around 5 mph, tractors come in at just shy of 8 mph, and zero-turn mowers come in at the fastest speed of 13 mph.

Implement overseeding and fertilization to maximize aeration benefits and strengthen your lawn.
