"First, I’d absolutely use and plan to use Bernhardt Restoration again. The contractor Atilio was communicative and easy to work with. His team was also friendly, communicative and easy to work with. They did a great job!! I found the company through Angi’s list. I originally just wanted them to remove some asbestos tiles. But after talking with Atilio I decided to add a new vinyl floor which we were going to do anyway, just later. But as we were working through these projects I felt more comfortable and confident in their professionalism and craftsmanship. So I had them paint the walls, doors and window frames. Then I had them replace a door and update all the power plugs. We started a project for flooring and ended up renovating the whole room and I’m so glad I did! But I only did that because the team earned my trust. I really appreciated the communication. I was constantly updated. They completely transformed our room! So glad I decided to go with Bernhardt Restoration!"

Small jobs welcome

"Overall was good for what the service is. The technician was a postal worker and home inspector. So mold test company appears to be brokers. Their pricing was competitive from other quotes I received but I honestly think it was pricey for time spent and what they do. But like I said the price was pretty standard from the companies I called, in my opinion. But the technician was attentive and knowledgeable, and friendly."

"I am extremely satisfied with the mold inspection and remediation services! The team conducted a thorough inspection of the entire property, used professional equipment to measure moisture levels, and clearly explained where the issues were located. After we agreed on the scope of work, they promptly began the remediation process: everything was done carefully, using safe products, and they provided a detailed report with before-and-after photos. The entire process was smooth, on schedule, and stress-free. I especially want to highlight their high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and willingness to answer all my questions. Now the air in my home is fresh again, with no unpleasant odors. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for reliable mold specialists!"

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Wood tables are susceptible to mold growth, especially if they have been water-damaged. In fact, anything made of wood in your home—from tables and chairs to cabinets and floors—can grow mold since wood is both an organic material and a porous one. Major flooding and water damage are likely candidates for mold growing on your wood table, but it can also happen simply if the wood table is in a humid environment.

You can kill the mold with a proprietary cleaner, or simply a diluted bleach or even cleaning vinegar or dish soap. Always wear gloves, protective eyewear, and a face mask when dealing with mold.

Mold and other fungi love moisture, so the best way to prevent mold growth after water damage is to remove as much moisture as possible. First, find the source of the water or moisture, such as a leak or clogged gutters, and correct the problem. Next, remove standing water, vacuum up puddles with a shop vacuum, and run blower fans and dehumidifiers for 24 to 72 hours. Once you've removed all traces of moisture, disinfect the area using either vinegar or bleach to kill any remaining mold spores.

You can do a basic home water test, but we recommend having a pro conduct a more in-depth test. This method is accurate, and you’ll have a pro who knows your house helping you determine a plan of attack for anything out of the ordinary.

Dehumidifiers do not directly remove mold or spores from the air. However, by lowering the room’s humidity, spores are less likely to flourish when landing on surfaces.

A professional indoor air quality inspection takes anywhere from one to three hours, depending on the size of your home and the number of necessary samples. After the test, the specialist will discuss the findings, but you won’t get a full written report for 2 to 10 days, though you can ask your pro to expedite the process, if needed.
