"I cannot say enough great things about Harold and Blazeks! Everything was seamless from beginning to end. Initially, I thought window treatments would be easy, but quickly felt overwhelmed by all the options and selecting the right color. Harold had great communication and was on time and made everything so easy and fun. We are absolutely thrilled with our blinds and felt very well taken care of. HIGHLY recommended!"

"SunControl was great to work with! Very respectful of me and my house and cleaned up when they were done. I had them do both window tinting and blinds. Although it wasn't a large job, I was treated as though it was. I would definitely use them again."

"No catalog. You choose your style from a laptop and you never see it again until it is delivered and installed. Does not follow through on promises to contact you, or arrive at a certain time. Thankfully, window treatments turned out beautiful, and it is exactly what we wanted."

"We have not had our window treatments installed yet, however Dawn has been very helpful in answering our questions and guiding us on what to choose for our windows. She went above and beyond to make sure she was present during our shutter measurement appt with Andy. I can't say enough positive things about her and your company so far. We can't wait until our window treatments are installed!!"

"I had two vertical faux wood blinds that were in bad shape and I was searching for their replacements. The ladders on both had broken making them non functional and two slats had broken. I priced out replacements with installation that would be an estimate of $500.00 for the identical blinds. I had success with a previous home advisor experience so I decided to search for someone who could offer repairmen. Garrett Swanson contacted immediately. I sent him pictures of the blinds and he quoted me $30.00 per blind and a $40.00 trip charge and would repair at my home without dismantling them. He was very professional, did excellent work and saved me $400.00. I would highly recommend him."

Window Treatments questions, answered by experts

Adding windows to a house is expensive. Budget roughly $5,800 to add a single window, and double or triple that to add two or three. In some cases, adding a single window can exceed $20,000, depending on the type of exterior wall, the size of the window, the type of window, local permit costs, and other factors.

A window can fall off a track for a large number of reasons. The most common ones usually involve an issue with the track itself or the wheels that glide along it. If the track is bent or broken, the wheels can’t slide. If the wheels are broken or are full of debris, they won’t spin, and you will have to force the window open. The good news is that most window track issues are easy fixes, even for beginner DIYers.

Finding a reputable contractor for an egress window installation involves researching and vetting potential candidates. Start by searching for local professionals, reading customer reviews, and checking their websites for a portfolio of their work.

Once you have a shortlist, ask the following questions to ensure they are qualified:

• Are you licensed and insured?

• What experience do you have installing egress windows?

• Can you provide references from previous customers?

• Do you perform the work yourself or use subcontractors?

• What is the estimated project timeline and your current schedule?

• How do you handle payment?

Generally speaking, you should clean your windows and any associated fixtures and treatments every six months. Otherwise, clean them as needed to keep everything running smoothly. If you live in a part of the country with especially hard water, you may have to clean them three or four times per year, and the same goes for areas where insects, pollen, dirt, and other debris can soil your windows and potentially cause issues with the moving parts.

Actually, condensation can mean that your windows are more energy efficient because the seal keeps cold air out and warm air in. In some cases, windows with poor seals can lead to more condensation, but they may allow the cold and warm air to mix and reduce condensation. If you’re worried about whether or not your windows are properly insulated, have a pro assess them.
