"He did the job and it ended up being $200 (40%) more than the quote, although it seems like maybe it was more complicated than he anticipated. He did drop the vent onto the stove (he hadn't properly secured it to the wall). Everything worked fine, although there was a minor scratch on the vent (it was a new install). I would have appreciated a discount after that or at least to honor the original quote."

My name is marquise Sanchez I install all major household appliances. I have delivered and installed all major appliances for about 10 years. I’ve worked for companies such as home depo, Best Buy, and sears. I deliver quality service. I’ve travel to Indiana, parts of Michigan, and majority of illinois. I also can change valves for washers due to corrosion and valves for gas appliances as well as dishwashers and fridges. I believe I’m the best option when it comes to installing appliances I not only bring my knowledge of the work but also the professionalism and patience that comes with working in this field.

By trade I am a field service tech for electronic alarm systems (burglar, fire and CCTV) for over 8 years. Familiar and capable of many other trades. I handle almost all issues, repairs and upgrades for my own home. Any and all work I perform I treat it like my own home. I have too much pride in my work to do sloppy work.

Appliance Sales questions, answered by experts

If you don’t want to use dishwasher pods, you can use liquid or powder dishwasher detergent or dishwasher tablets. Alternatively, you can make a DIY dish detergent by putting two or three drops of liquid dishwashing soap in the dispenser and filling the rest with baking soda. You should never use laundry detergent, household all-purpose cleaners, or a full dispenser of liquid dish detergent.

Only portable washers and dryers function without a full hookup, though in most cases, you will need the proper plumbing, electrical, and ventilation installation. However, many homes already have a washer and dryer hookup installed, in which case, all you need to do is attach your new appliances to the existing hookup. If you're not sure whether you have a functioning hookup, you can call a plumber to come and assess your setup for you.

The best time to buy a new appliance is when your current appliance breaks or you are doing a renovation. You could get a good deal on a new one. Retailers will often list these items on sale during major shopping holidays like Black Friday, Labor Day, etc. Another great time for an appliance upgrade or change is during a renovation. Not only will you be able to better match your appliance to your new style, but the contractor may be able to dispose of your old appliance for no fee.

Gas stoves can last up to 15 years with routine maintenance. On average, gas stoves can last from 10 to 15 years. Generally, gas stoves are durable appliances as long as you keep them clean. If the flame flickers from red to yellow, you may need to clean the grates and burner caps.

If you have a tank-type electric water heater, it runs regularly to keep the water at the desired temperature. If you live in a home where you don’t use much hot water, it could seem wasteful to run power to heat water that you’re using infrequently. You could save some power by using a smaller tank, insulating the tank, or lowering the temperature of the water heater.
