"After trying to get numerous sewer and water companies to even come out so I could explain the problem I was having, and get an estimate, I finally got a response from Lincoln Sewers.  Phil from Lincoln Sewers first came out in April 2015 and ran a camera down the sewer line.  It appeared as if the sewer line had become disconnected where it comes out of the house.  During heavy torrential rains the sewers were filling up and actually flowing back into the original somewhat of a half crock overhead sewer system that was already in my house when I bought it 12 years earlier.  The water was flowing heavily back into the sump and ejector pump pits during torrential rains.  After doing my own research on what a true overhead sewer system is, Lincoln Sewers did the new sewer system which has the main pipe going out the side of the basement wall (which is a true overhead sewer system).  Overall, everything seems to have been done well.  No leaks in the pipes, and water from the house seems to be flowing just fine out to the sewer system.  Lincoln Sewers got the permit, and the city inspector from Chicago was out to inspect their work on July 6th.  The inspector informed me the work being performed was up to code.  I'll have to wait and see how the system holds up during torrential rains, but so far everything seems good.  Overall clean-up at the end of the job by the employees was good, and pretty much everyone I've either dealt with personally or on the phone from Lincoln Sewers has been helpful and professional including, Phil, Robert, Doug, and Janet.  I had contacted multiple sewer and water companies in an attempt to get more estimates, but only one other company gave me an actual written estimate and it was almost double of what Lincoln Sewers charged me.  I would recommend Lincoln Sewers to other customers.  At this time I have no complaints about this company.

"We just bought a house on a private well and started noticing rust stains and a foul odor right away. The house came with an old softener, but it didn't seem to be working anymore. We got a few quotes for a system that would treat well water and decided to use Chicago Water Pros. Their tech was on time, very professional and knowledgeable. The price was very reasonable compared to the other quotes that we got, and they had a way better warranty and money back guarantee than anyone else by far. We bought a tank for iron treatment and a softener. The guy that came out to test our water and do the quote was there for the installation and came back out to re-test the water and make sure everything was working properly a few days after the install as well. We couldn't be happier with the water and the great service and price that we got. I'd recommend them to anyone!"

"The awesomeness started within a couple hours of purchasing my deal. Matt reached out to clarify a misprint in the deal, and assure I still wanted to go through with the deal. He was able to to schedule me at a time that worked with my busy schedule.
Darryl and Mike arrived right on time, first thing in the morning. I had originally purchased a hot water tank replacement deal. During the old tank removal, it was discovered that my ejector pump was not working. The crew was equipped to replace that at a reasonable price as well. They worked quick and professionally and had all the work completed in a timely manner. They made sure to have tarps available to protect my floors when moving the tanks in and out. The crew had such pleasant personalities, and I could tell they enjoyed what they were doing.
I highly recommend M&E Plumbing for any work you may need!!

"We woke up this morning to our basement plumbing not working and sewage backed up into our pump room. This would always be a problem, however, my in-laws were staying down there in our guest room because they were here for my daughter's 3rd birthday. Since the party was to be held partially in the basement, we needed help fast.  I found Patrick through Angie's List and called him up. I woke him up and he was here within two hours, diagnosed the failed ejector pump, and had it repaired within an hour after his arrival.  He did a great job, put in a better pump than was originally there, and was incredibly patient with the birthday girl and all her questions. Thankfully, the party will now be able to go on as planned."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

A septic tank riser should extend to just above the ground level or slightly above it. The exact height can vary depending on local regulations and personal preferences, but a common guideline is to have the riser's top flush with or no more than a few inches above the surrounding ground. This height allows for easy access to the septic tank without creating a tripping hazard or obstructing mowing and landscaping activities. It's essential to ensure that the riser lid is easily visible and accessible for regular maintenance and inspection while being mindful of safety and aesthetics.

Several signs can indicate a faulty well pump pressure switch. These include your pump running continuously, the pump not turning on at all, or a sudden and complete loss of water. Other symptoms are weak water pressure or an erratic, unpredictable water flow from your fixtures. If you notice these issues, the pressure switch may be the cause. Testing the switch can help diagnose the problem. A faulty switch will likely need to be repaired or replaced. If the issue is more complex, it's best to consult a professional well technician to ensure your water supply is restored correctly.

They can if they’re not installed correctly or if the caps or covers were dislodged by a lawn mower or other yard equipment. This is why it pays to hire a reputable septic tank company that’s experienced in septic tank installation and maintenance. You should also check caps and covers often to see that they’re in place and take measures to tighten or secure them, provided it is safe to do so.

The disadvantages of having a well include more maintenance, like annual testing and inspections, and high up-front costs to drill a well. Well water is also vulnerable to contamination, which is why keeping up with testing is important if you own a well. When it comes to well water versus city water, well water does offer more independence and is a reliable water source.

There are a couple of ways you can determine the depth of your well. One method is to use a device called a well sounder. This tool has a long measuring tape containing a sensor to alert you once the end reaches the water.

Or you can DIY it by using a long tape measure with a half-filled bottle of water attached to it. Lower the tape measure into your well. Once you feel tension on the tape, you’ll know the bottle has reached your static water level. This will give you an approximate idea of your well’s depth.
