"At first I received two quotes, 1 from Aspen Fence and 1 from Golden Fence. In hind site I should have used Golden Fence. (sorry Golden Fence)
I picked Aspen Fence because their proposal looked to be more professional, so I justified the extra $250 that they were because of that.
The problem was that I had two gates on the project and Golden Fence included 4x6 posts on BOTH gates and Aspen didn't include any  larger posts on either gate. I spoke with Jeff at Aspen and he wanted to charge me extra for adding the larger posts and I had to twist his arm to up-size the posts at ONE gate for no extra charge.
Then Jeff called me 12 hours before his guys were going to show up and asked me if I got the permit when I was under the impression he was getting the permit so I had to pay extra for that and I had to pull favor with the village to expidite it thru the system.
Then when the guys showed up the asked my wife "where do you want us to put the dirt from the holes". WHAT??? Since when does a contractor give you a price to make holes and a mess and ask you where to put the spoils? I've been in construction and construction project management for 30+ years, I've NEVER had a contractor ask me where to put the trash and spoils they generate. You make it you take it! So I called Jeff to ask him his thought on that and he said "well we never take the dirt away, we usually spread it around the property where the customer wants it". He told me he would charge me extra to take the dirt away ($7/hole) and I had something like 22 holes so he wanted to charge me another $150 to take his trash away.
I informed him he should've spelled that out on his quote and he said I was the first to have a problem with it.
Needless to say I wasn't blown away with the whole "Aspen experience" and I would caution anyone considering using them. If you're getting a bid from them NAIL THEM DOWN IN WRITING about EVERYTHING!!!! Time, duration, drawings, details, permits, spoils, layout........
The workmanship was fine and they did come back out to fix some things free of charge but I just wanted to share my experience.

I never had to call him to come back to fix his work. I keep TKL bussines card handy for some future projects. I know whenever I deal with TKL Home Improvement, it will be done right. Cost isn't really a factor because of the quality and responsiveness.

"The provider was late but did try to contact me via AngiesList email (which I'm not logged in on unless I'm in communication with someone) to let me know he was running late. We purchased a two hour service so we thought we could get a couple things done since they weren't too elaborate. But it seemed to take forever to get the storage contraption installed in the ceiling of the garage. We needed a toilet seat replaced as well and while he looked at it, he said he didn't have the tools to pry it off. Luckily, we had a difference handyman service come out and do some other things a couple months ago and they took care of it quickly.
