"A&W representatives were very professional and provided us with a clear explanation of the damage and the options for repair. A&W worked directly with our home insurance company to verify the full cost of the roof replacement and that it would be fully covered under our insurance policy. The roof was replaced in one day. Their was a minor issue with the quality of the fascia that was replaced on one side of the house but it was resolved satisfactorily in a timely manner. I would not hesitate to recommend A&W to anyone needing roof repair work."

"Nelson Wells showed up on time and fixed my roofing problems for a price which I felt was fair. I had tried to find a roofer to fix leaks in my tile roof for the past 3 years. I spoke with him on the phone, he came to give an estimate and he did the work â all within 2 weeks. I highly recommend him."

"Prompt and courteous service for a roof replacement. Chad walked me through the various older items that could be removed and replaced by a ridge vent. Delivery of the shingles was fun to watch and did not take much time. The roofing crew was skilled and courteous (cleaned out a portion of the gutter that had tree branches and other debris), cleaning up after the roofing was completed."

"Our house had developed an intermittent ceiling rain water leak. We requested an inspection, diagnosis, and repair estimate from several BBB-approved local roofing/guttering firms. Cloverfield responded within hours. Their inspection appeared to be very thorough - inside the attic and outside on the roof. We agreed to have them do the repair, and they completed the work that morning."

"I can’t say enough good things about Accredited Roofing. From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. Their representative Steve was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly easy to work with. He took the time to explain the process, answered all my questions, and made sure everything was handled smoothly. The restoration team was just as impressive. They showed up on time, worked efficiently, and delivered top-quality workmanship. The attention to detail really stood out, and the final results exceeded my expectations. My property looks amazing, and it’s clear they take pride in their work. If you’re looking for a roofing company you can trust, Accredited Roofing is the real deal. Highly recommend Steve and the entire team!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, a roof blister can cause a leak if it gets to the point where it pops. Prior to popping, a roof blister is just an aesthetic issue, but once it pops, you’re left with a small hole in the shingle. Water from rain and snow can easily get inside this hole and interact with your underlayment, roof decking, and the building material below.

The placement of snow guards depends on the individual roof, but typically snow guards are placed between 12 and 18 inches from the eaves, though they can be placed as close as six inches and as far as 24 inches from the eaves. A roofing professional can assess the roof and potential snow loads to determine the best placement.

Generally, hailstones that are one inch in diameter or larger can cause significant damage to a roof. However, smaller hail can also cause damage, particularly when accompanied by strong winds, if it strikes an aging or poorly maintained roof, or if hailstorms are frequent in your area. Hail that is ¼ inch (pea-sized) or smaller poses a minimal risk of immediate, permanent damage, but cumulative impacts can cause deterioration over time. The extent of the damage also depends on the roofing material; hail-resistant tiles like slate or certain types of asphalt shingles can withstand impacts better than other materials. If you are concerned about potential damage after a storm, it is always a good idea to have a professional roofer conduct an inspection.

Roofing felt is the most common type of roof underlayment, likely because it has been around the longest. It’s called roofing felt because it is often made of felt soaked in asphalt. Depending on the type of roofing a home has, roofing felt comes in different thicknesses.

If properly installed and maintained, roofing felt should last between 10 and 25 years.

EPDM roofs have a few common problems, most of which can be resolved with regular maintenance. This type of roofing is laid down in sheets with seams, which can be a starting point for leaks. Proper installation and roof sealing can often avoid seam issues.

The material is also susceptible to tears and punctures from falling branches or other sharp objects. There are black and white versions of EPDM, and the black version is more prone to fade and succumb to UV damage. Regular roof inspections can protect the costs of rubber roof installation and extend the life of your roof.
