"George came out and talked to me about what was wrong about the gutters I had up and showed me what to look for in bad gutters. He was great on showing what was wrong and what needed fixed. His crew came out and took down my old gutters and replaced them with new ones. They were also had the best rice to do gutters and gutter guards. Very happy with them and the work they did."

"Outstanding company. Austin was our salesman. He was thorough, had great ideas on colors, showed up on time and communication was excellent. We got the extra large downspouts and gutter covers because of a large maple tree in our yard. Pricing was great. Very fair. Product quality was also excellent. Installation went smoothly. Would HIGHLY recommend."

"Excellent Gutter Work! I had new oversized 6" gutters installed by Seidel Exterior Group, and I'm really impressed with the quality of the work. Udo Seidel’s team was professional from start to finish, and a special shoutout to Marty, who did the installation. He worked quickly, did a clean and careful job, and the end result looks fantastic. We have a mix of big-leaf, small-leaf, and pine trees around the house, so I opted to skip gutter guards and go for larger-capacity gutters instead—and I'm glad I did. Marty made sure everything was installed with attention to detail, and the system looks built to handle heavy rain and debris. Highly recommend Seidel Exterior Group if you're looking for reliable, high-quality exterior work!"

"If you’re dealing with storm or hail damage and wondering who to trust, I can honestly say hiring Tomkat Restoration was one of the smoothest experiences I’ve ever had. From start to finish, they were absolute professionals. The hail damage on our property looked overwhelming at first, but their team handled everything flawlessly. Communication was excellent, pricing was fair and transparent, and the quality of work completely exceeded expectations. They treated the project like it was their own home. What really stood out was how easy they made the insurance process. They worked directly with the insurance company, explained everything clearly, and took a huge amount of stress off our shoulders. No games, no headaches, no surprises. Just honest people doing excellent work. The finished result looks incredible, and the entire experience was far better than I expected. Hard to find companies these days that combine professionalism, responsiveness, fair pricing, and quality cra"

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

Yes. Excessive pitch in gutters can cause water to flow too rapidly, leading to a decrease in the gutter's water-holding capacity; consequently, during heavy rainstorms, water may awkwardly splash outside the gutters. Ideally, you should aim for a quarter-inch of gutter slope for every 10 feet of gutter run. However, it's important to note that this guideline may vary depending on your home's structure and the type of gutters being installed.

The average cost to install or replace gutters is around $2,000, with typical project costs ranging from $900 to $7,000. Most companies charge between $4 and $30 per linear foot. The total price depends on several factors, including the size of your home, the complexity of its footprint, the gutter material (e.g., vinyl, metal), and the gutter style (e.g., half-round, custom-built). Additional elements like downspouts, corners, and optional add-ons like gutter guards can also increase the price. The condition of your roof is another consideration, as new gutters cannot be installed on a rotting or sloping roof. While it can be an expensive upfront cost, new gutters are a worthwhile, long-lasting investment for protecting your home's exterior. You can save up to half on labor costs by installing them yourself.

Water overflow, foundation damage, and mold growth are risks.

The best way to seal gutters is with a combination of waterproof roofing cement and silicone gutter sealant. This powerful duo works to prevent water from escaping through holes and cracks while allowing for breathability. While you can use polyurethane sealants, silicone sealants tend to be more flexible when it comes to climate. Silicone is UV-resistant and bonds well to many surfaces. However, polyurethane sealant bonds better with wood.

If your gutters get overwhelmed every time it rains, adding an extra downspout is a solution. First, you'll need to decide where to add the downspout. If your current setup only has a single downspout, one option is to place a new one at the opposite end of the gutter. If you already have a downspout at each end, adding a third one in the middle can help to lighten the load.

You can hire a professional to add a downspout yourself by cutting into the existing gutter and attaching the necessary parts, such as an outlet and brackets.
