"Thorough, professional, and tidy Alan and Mark did a chimney inspection and sweep for us and I couldn't be happier. They showed up on time, explained exactly what they were going to do, and protected the floors and hearth with drop cloths. The sweep was thorough, and they walked me through what they found, including photos from the inspection camera, in plain language with no pressure or upsell. The house was cleaner when they left than when they arrived. I feel much better about using our fireplace this season. Highly recommend Superior Chimney"

"Rob and his crew did a great job.. outside tuck pointing, crack repair, new damper, holes filled. Inside new mortar, smoke chamber fire proofed, new ceramic logs, silica, gas line. Showed us how to operate the new damper and light the fireplace. Perfect job."

"I had 2 gas fireplaces that needed cleaned and/or repaired. One was cleaned and began working again. I was given an overpriced solution for the second fireplace that I rejected. I will find another company for the second fireplace."

Fireplace Cleaners questions, answered by experts

Regular HVAC filter changes, deep cleaning, and air quality monitoring help maintain a healthy environment.

Limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces if you apply them correctly. Use on non-suitable surfaces can cause issues. For instance, applying limewash or whitewash to surfaces with existing sealants or incompatible materials may lead to poor adhesion or flaking. Also, harsh cleaning agents on limewashed or whitewashed surfaces can damage the finish. Proper preparation, application, and maintenance ensure that limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces.

A fireplace can take anywhere from a few hours to several weeks to remodel, depending on the complexity of the project. For example, for a simple paint job, you’ll spend very little time touching up your fireplace, while larger remodels that involve replacing or repairing a fireplace can take up to 4 weeks.

You should use an angled brush to first paint the mortar lines, then go in with a high-density roller to evenly paint the bricks one at a time. You can also use a flat paintbrush to paint individual bricks, but a roller is faster and easier to use thanks to its longer handle and wider surface area for coating the bricks. To finish, go in with the paint brush for edges or hard-to-reach areas.

When it comes to painting your bricks, you’ve got a few options. Traditionally, lime wash (a mix of aged, burned, and crushed lime and water) was used to whitewash brick or stone. You can also find premixed brick whitewash paint that cuts out a few steps and lets you get started faster. However, for the best results, we recommend using a DIY whitewash (white acrylic paint mixed with water).
